DVBViewer Pro Beta 7.3.1.5
The DVBViewer Pro beta version 7.3.1.4 has been updated in the Members (Download) Area -> Beta Section to version 7.3.1.5. More about it in this post.

Changes in Version 7.3.1.5:

Fix: OSD: Navigation with the OSD Right action did not work correctly on some pages, particularly on the Movies, Music and Images page. Depending on the display mode of the content list (List View or Icons) it was not possible to navigate from the button column at the left to the list at the right (since 7.3.1, see here).

Fix: Plugins: Measures against access violations caused by OSD plugins (like the one installed with the Blufuzz OSD skin) in additionally running DVBViewer instances, particularly disabling channel switching in these instances altogether.

DVBViewer Pro Beta 7.3.1.4
The DVBViewer Pro beta version 7.3.1.3 has been updated in the Members (Download) Area -> Beta Section to version 7.3.1.4. More about it in the previous post.

Changes in Version 7.3.1.4:

Fix: Recorder: When playing files from the internet (e.g. HbbTV content), downloading them by using the DVBViewer record function failed with an access violation if DVBViewer was configured as Media Server client with “Send timers to the server” switched on (since 7.2.2, see here).

Change Log DVBViewer Pro 7.3.1.0
Added/Change/Fix: Playback Components Options: General rework and several minor fixes, among them the following points:

Added: DVBViewer now allows to use audio formats in the Auto B Conditions input lines and also in the “Conditions” line of filter graph preset files (.fgp, see here). The new conditions are MP2, MP3, AC3, AAC, PCM. The mouse-over hints for the Auto B Conditions input lines have been updated accordingly.

Change: Special Video Renderer settings now only appear on the Video tab, not on the Audio tab anymore. The Auto B Conditions input lines now appear on all tabs, not only on the Video B / Audio B tabs

Change: For Windows 8 and later, the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video/Audio Decoders have been excluded from the MPEG2 Video and AC3 Audio decoder selection and also from DVD Decoder selection, except if DVBViewer detects that the Windows DVD Player is installed. If not, Windows 8 and later do not support decoding of these formats. Additionally Decoders have been excluded from the decoder selection for DVD playback, that actually don’t support DVD playback (MEDIATYPE_DVD_ENCRYPTED_PACK input).

Added: MP2 Audio Decoder selection for DVD playback (previously only the AC3 decoder was selectable). DVBViewer determines the audio format by checking the audio tracks of the first DVD title. If one or of them is not MP2, it uses the decoder selected for AC3, otherwise the one for MP2. Please note: The detected audio format only influences the used decoder on playback start, not later on audio track changes. Generally audio decoders suitable for DVD playback are expected to support all audio formats specified for Video DVDs (MP2, AC3, DTS, LPCM) and to be able to switch between them seamlessly.

Added: MP3 Audio Decoder selection for Picture in Picture, particularly for playback of internet radio streams.

Added/Change/Fix: Image Display: Enhancements for displaying still images (photos etc) in DVBViewer. Generally there are two ways of displaying images: Either as OSD Slideshow with optional animation effects. Or statically by using DirectShow components, as for other media files. The OSD slideshow takes over, if Options → Images → Play images as OSD Slideshow is switched on and more than one image is passed to the DVBViewer main window, either as selection of image files (via drag & drop or Playback → Open Media File) or as a folder containing image files (via drag & drop or OSD Main Menu → Media Center → Images). OSD Slideshows stop TV/video playback, but not radio/music playback, that continues in the background. Like other OS pages the slideshow can be switched off with OSD Menu (Esc key) or OSD Back (space key). In other cases than the ones mentioned above (single image, other sources) DVBViewer uses DirectShow playback and additionally its playlist for more than one image.

Change: DVBViewer now consistently uses the “Generate Still Video” source filter (provided by Windows) for displaying JPEG, GIF and BMP files via DirectShow. PNG images, that are not supported by “Generate Still Video”, have to be handled with the LAV source filter as “single picture video”, which may cause issues depending on the Video Renderer and its settings.

Added: Images offered by the UPnP window can now be displayed in the main window via DirectShow. Previously the Play button in the UPnP window did not take effect if an image was selected. The same applies to image URLs entered in the Playback → Open URL dialog. Images from these sources are downloaded first and stored in a temporary file, because “Generate Still Video” can’t process URLs.

Change: The OSD pause icon does not appear anymore in the main window while an image is displayed via DirectShow.

Added: The “Playback → Open Media File” dialog in the main window as well as the “Add Items” dialog in the playlist window offer to select “Image Files” as file type in the drop-down list at the right, for displaying only image files. Please note that both file dialogs support multi-selection in the usual Windows way.

Added: Image files in the DVBViewer Playlist are now automatically displayed one after the other. Options → Images → Display Duration specifies how long an image remains visible until the playlist switches over to the next item. Previously the switching had to be triggered manually for images. Thus the playlist can now also be used for slideshows, but without animation effects.

Fix: The OSD Slideshow could not process filenames containing Unicode characters that were not covered by the local character set. Items in the OSD Slideshow context menu (opened with OSD Blue) were not translated. If the EVR Custom Video Renderer was used and an OSD Slideshow already going on, starting another OSD Slideshow by dragging image files into the DVBViewer main window failed with an access violation.

Fix: General: Some UI elements were (almost) invisible in Windows dark / high contrast themes (see here), particularly transparent black-on-white toolbar icons in the Teletext Window, the Playlist Window and the Control Bar, and also captions in the Pages tree view of the Teletext Window. Black-on-white icons are now inverted to white-on-black if such a theme is active.

Fix: General: The mouse-over-hints of the small DVBViewer taskbar icons were not translated.

Change: General: The command line parameter -new for starting another DVBViewer instance additionally to already running instances now starts the instance with the first unoccupied instance number (beginning with 1). Previously the instance number was the number of already running instances plus one (see 7.3.0 changes and here).

Added: General: New action “New DVBViewer Instance” (see actions.ini in the DVBViewer Program Directory), allowing to assign a keyboard or remote key to it.

Added: Main Window: Tweak “Show ‘New DVBViewer Instance’ item in menus” (→ launch Tweaker.exe). It adds a “New DVBViewer Instance” item to the TV/Radio sub-menus in the main window for launching another DVBViewer instance by using the -new command line parameter (see here). Please note that the tweak is a “per instance” setting. If additional DVBViewer instances have already been used before, the tweak must be applied to each instance separately (e.g. by dragging and dropping its setup.xml on Tweaker.exe).

Fix: Main Window: Functions assigned to the horizontal mouse wheel (or tilting the mouse wheel) did not work if the support for visually impaired users was active (see here). A double middle mouse button click switched full screen on/off, which could cause unwanted switching when using the middle mouse button for other purpose. Now only the left mouse button switches full screen on/off.

Fix: Main Window: On a start with a command line parameter that triggered an OSD prompt DVBViewer got stuck while displaying the start screen. The OSD prompt could not be answered, because the main window was still invisible. Now DVBViewer displays a Windows message box in this case.

Change/Fix: Volume Control: The code for the DVBViewer volume control has been simplified and restructured in order to work more consistently, particularly with regard to Picture in Picture and multiple DVBViewer instances. Among others this entails the following points:

Fix: Unmuting a DVBViewer instance, either by turning up volume or clicking “Mute” again, did not mute other running instances.

Change: The volume can now be adjusted in playback off state before playback gets started.

Change/Fix: The volume slider in the control bar now also takes effect on Picture in Picture, if Picture in Picture audio is switched on, and is updated when Picture in Picture volume changes. Previously the control bar volume slider was set to 0 (indicating muted Main Window audio) when Picture in Picture audio was active. Moving it additionally turned Main Window audio on, which is presumably unwanted in most cases.

Change: Clicking the Main Window with the middle mouse button now switches the Main Window to muted state, if it is not muted (see here).

Fix: The Mute function muted Picture in Picture audio, if active (introduced in 7.3.0), but unmuting it turned Main Window audio on. In Main Window playback off state the Mute function was deactivated, thus not available for Picture in Picture.

Fix: Switching Picture in Picture in its context menu from “Separate Window” to “Embedded in Main Window” mode or back unintentionally switched Picture in Picture audio off and Main Windows audio on.

Change: Switching Picture in Picture as a separate window to full screen does only sw...
