Burning at 4x with these discs has been spotty at best - about 35% have had problems - corrupted video, Divx files not playing back properly and DVD-R applications aborting halfway through with "bad media" errors.

This media doesn't even exist in my SONY DRU-700A burner, according to Nero. The burner can recognize it enough for DVD Identifier to get the info for it, but not through Nero.

Had a horrible time with this media on my NEC-2500A with latest (herrie's 1.07) firmware. I have had no problem in the past with Ritek G04's and Taiyo Yuden TYG02's, but about 40 per cent of these CMC Mag AE1 disks burned with unreadable sectors even at 2x. Definitely not recommended for the NEC-2500A.

To my surprise, I was able to burn home made movies at 12x using VSO CopytoDVD. Tried the final result in 7 different bands DVD players (Panasonic, Toshiba, Pioneer, JVC, etc.) and they ALL were able to read the movie without a glitch. Very happy so far with them. Couldn't get a single one to work, even though they seem high quality. Deep purple burning surface. DVD Writer could read them, but couldn't copy with any of the DVD burning programs on my comp (Click to DVD, RecordNow) or the Windows drag and drop folder. Tried it at 2X, 4X.

Bestbuy had a deal (11/7/04)for "buy one get one free" for a 50pack of DVD-Rs (100 total). I was shocked to find out that some are CMC MAG and some are RitekG05 (8x). In one spindle the first 2 and last 1 discs were a little spotty/scratched and thus not reliable and in the other spindle the first and last 1 had a little imperfection. My burner would only copy the bad discs @ around 0.5x vs an average of 5x ripping speed. Burning with the same video with non scratched discs worked beautifully.

i bought these and they work just fine at 8x. i've used about 5 spindles(125 discs. memorex also makes some 8x dvd-r that are RITEKG05. the RITEKG05 only burn at 4x in my pioneer dvr-107. they look exactly like the CMC MAG. AE1. the only difference is in the packaging. the CMC MAG. AE1 have a flat top (purchased from jr.com @ 19.88/25pk) and the RITEKG05 have a raised lip on top.BEWARE!!!!!!
