This program has improved my existence since I first heard about it.

Review by Cristian on Aug 3, 2024 Version: madVR 0.92.17 / Test Build 205 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: 3/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

The best video software in existence.
I use my custom Reshade shaders and the output is outrageous quality.
Madshi, all MadVR fans are waiting for NVIDIA VSR (NVIDIA RTX Video Super Resolution) upscale to be added to MadVR.
And everyone would like to have built-in Clock and Audio Correction feature, because we can't use Reclock and VideoClock on 64 bit to correct the pure experience of playing 23.976p content in 24p or 25p.

Final Verdict:
9.5 out of 10

P.S.
Waiting to add the necessary features and get the god-killer among the video player.

Good software. The author has been moved to his hardware device project (madVR Envy) for quite a while I believe.

I'm gonna be straight here. Don't like the new idea that now RCA always runs as part of NGU if possible. I completely agree with what Neo-XP says. NGU Sharp should be as sharp as possible. Leaving that option whether to use NGU Sharp alone or with RCA to the user is always the right thing to do.

I just installed the latest version of madvr and the "Image doubling" is gone. Am I the only one? I thought it exists in the latest built. Merry Christmas!

Review by bossolli on Dec 24, 2016 Version: 0.91.4 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

The new releases don't work on my system. I am using the next to latest video driver from Nvidia 255.82. .8821 works Flawlessly! .8821 is Fantastic! But all of the newer .89x versions crash, give you a black screen you can't get out of, or jutter supper bad like you are running it on a one-core pc with a 32k VGA card. I've got a fairly "standard" set up; libde 0.2 builds of LAV 0.65 spliter and video, FFdshow Tryouts Audio 4531, xySubfilter 3.1.0.705, Reclock 1.8.8.5, on top of MPC-BE 1.4.5 Build 677. I'm running AMD FX 8-Core, 8 Gigs RAM, MSI NiVidia GTX 750ti (dual fan), with next to latest driver (255.82), on Windows 10 x64 Pro. Like I said, .8821 works AWSOME! No change in settings from .8821 to the .89x series (tried 01-05), and it turns to garbage. I did try it with Nivida driver 255.98, with same results. Also, Norton doesn't like the new build, 8905, and quarantines one of the dlls. I hope this is helpful and that they can fix it.

madVR is skipping frames after version 0.87.9 even for default settings. Tried upto version 0.87.14 but still same issue.

Review by reddevil on Mar 29, 2015 Version: 0.87.14 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 5/10 Functionality: 8/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 7/10

Nice for beginner and advanced user alike, if you're too stupid to understand all the option you can just leave it at default and it will work better than other renderer out there.

Review by alphaepsilon on Apr 12, 2014 Version: 0.87.9 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

Good when it works. Started nicely but evolved into kind of bloatware, now you have smooth video options and video renderer but you still lack a guide or manual to work out things like calibration profiles, or buffer optimizations. Error Diffusion only accepts DX11 (aka Vista and higher) and on the latest version techsmith isn't rendered. Support also is nonexistent.
Don't bother if you don't wanna be bothered.

to configure your video card to YCbCr 444 or 422 shades of black lose contrast. where it should be black, becomes a shade of gray.

Review by ricklaferla on Oct 7, 2013 Version: 0.86..11 OS: Windows 7 Ease of use: 5/10 Functionality: 8/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 5/10

@themyth I completely disagree. Overrated is also "subjective". The re-size algorithms in madvr work wonders for low bit-rate video! Madvr isn't simple to use and I don't believe its meant to be. EVR is simple and does not even compare when it comes to configuration flexibility! Madvr takes a lot of trial and error to get the settings dialed in, but once you get it right the results are impressive! smooth framerate conversion option is new, it can and probably will be improved. Madvr isn't for everyone or every system. Those of us that take the time to dial it in know that madshi's work is top notch and greatly appreciated!

Highly overrated. The subjective quality stands nowhere near the standard EVR. Comparatively dull colors regardless the color corrections, reduced sharpness. Smooth frame rate conversion has no effect on smoothnes beside dropping the frames. Do not recommend.

Quintessential core component for anyone who intend to build HTPC.
