Great tool to have alongside MKVtoolNix for batch extracting video- and audio tracks, and subtitles, chapters and attachments from .mkv, .mka, .mks and .mk3d files.

gMKVExtractGUI 2.1.0.0 , MKVToolNix Gui 19.0.0
OS : Windows 10 64bit version 1709 (build 16299.125)

I have tried to extract subtitle from a movie(.mkv).
'Output Directory for Selected File' is not worked.
Output file(.srt) is always created in the same folder which .mkv exists.

Thank you for gMKVExtractGUI.

@mail2tom
New version 1.6.6 adds support for ancient versions of MKVToolNix (v4.x), however it is STRONGLY advised to avoid using them!

Seems not to be backwards compatible with older versions of MKVToolNix.

The best GUI for mkvextract. 10-10-10-10 ^^

Works really great

You should report any issues here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=170249

To be honest, I never tested against such an old version of MKVToolnix, I believe I did my tests with 5.x and up.

In any case, please continue this conversation at doom9 thread, thanks!

I get the same error with 1.6.0 as I did with 1.5.5:

"An error has occured! StartIndex cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: StartIndex"

I also cannot drag and drop. The box is greyed out.

MKVExtractGUI-2.2.2.9 still works fine.

Is there a MKVToolNix version (I'm using 4.4.0) requirement to use version 1.5.5 of gMKVExtractGUI? I didn't see a version requirement on the SF project page. I've tried opening MKV files but get the error "StartIndex cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: startIndex." The files open fine with MKVExtractGUI2 (V 2.2.2.9).

Works perfect so far, I love the simplicity of this GUI and the dedication of the author to provide periodic updates, thanks a lot.

Everything going ok since v1.1
Just extract this app to your MKVtoolnix folder, and boom! Ready to use.

It can even extract font perfectly while MKVExtractGUI2 still error on it (no longer developing?)

Generated XML chapter file is currently in UTF8 with BOM encoding, that mkvmerge gui does not recognize. It will be fixed in next version. Until then, you can change the encoding to UTF8 without BOM using a tool like Notepad++.
Thanks for your feedback.

MKVToolnix is spitting "Unknown chapter file format" error when importing chapters.xml extracted with gMKVExtractGUI.

Really excellent software. Does the job that the other GUIs used to, at a fraction of the size.

This tool tries to find the mkvtoolnix location via the windows registry.
It does not try to search the current directory for the MkvToolnix executables,
though it does seem like a nice fallback.
I think you misjudged the tool.

Not Ready for Prime Time. Claims it can't find mkvtoolnix files when they're copied into its own directory. If it can't even startup properly, no sense in wasting time on it.
