I recently discovered this software. This is trialware, though for projects lasting 5 minutes or less you can use it for free unlimited. Though there will be a text generated in the video "Edited using VideoMeld. Videomeld.com".
If you consider buying this software it will cost you $19 for one year or $50 for a lifetime, including support and updates.
I find VideoMeld very intuitive to work with. Also people who consider themselves as digibetes will find out easily how to use this software. It's ideal for editing personal videos very fast. But also people who are looking for more advanced video editing functions will appreciate the many non-lineair video effects and transitions which are manually adjustable by the use of keyframes. For editing you can make use of layers which can be controlled by several transparancy options.
Unfortunately there are some cons as well. I find it quite a shame you can only export your video to MP4, WMV or WEBM. The quality options are customisable though I miss a 2-pass rendering option when exporting to MP4. I would appreciate when it becomes possible to export with lossless codecs.
Installation is very easy. And in contrast to other certain commercial software Videomeld doesn't require a whole lot of disk space. Though after installation you have to go to OPTIONS > CONFIGURE VIDEOMELD... in the menu. Because there it is necessary to download or locate FFmpeg / Libav which, otherwise the software wouldn't work properly.
The help-files are very detailed with enough information, and they are written in a very accessable way, which makes it easy to understand for the ones who don't use English as their primair language.
