A very good player. Loads fast, plays everything ( well, just about) and is feature rich.

Becarefull !!!

UMPlayer messes up file extensions even you select not to handle video and audio files during setup. It registers all files on itself and after the uninstall the files remain orphan. You have to re-assingn to your favourite player again by hand! After uninstall , when you double click on avi files you get and error that there is no player assinged for playing the file. When you right click on the file you see " shell" on top with bold ( means default action), open
comes just below this. You have to choose open with and choose your old fav. player and re assing file assosistions.

Comes with a small downloader and downloads other files and codecs during setup. Interface is not much pretty. SMPlayer also uses Mplayer and it is much better , safe to use and beautiful interface.

As a summary it takes 10 minutes for download&install. I open it and see that it looks like. Have a proplem in openin videos with drag and drop on to main window. I had to open from File>>Open. I give it a 3 tries and ended with uninstall. Sorry for the coders but this is the fact.

This is a great all-round media player (because it uses Mplayer as a backend) with a very nice interface, but it's 'killer' feature in my opinion is the Youtube player/search function. Normally if you have an old underpowered computer without hardware assisted video support, flash Youtube video will be just an unwatchable slideshow, but using this program you can view even full-screen videos very smoothly without adobe flash plugin. I have installed Umplayer on an old computer running Linux and for the first time I can play Youtube videos smoothly on it. Umplayer should be default media player on all lightweight linux distros.
