All reviews for The Core Media Player

Love this player and couldn't agree with previous poster more: It's free (except DVD playback, use MPC), got a lot of versatile features easy to set up and especially the sound-rendering is one of the best I have known. The overlay-funstion could be a bit more readily accessible, though... Pity that it's not developed anymore.

Ten on my score.

Nice interface, smooth playback, lots of features. Far less of a resource hog than Windows Media Player. Unfortunately, DVD playback is disabled in the free version.

Regarding the previous comment -

Core Media Player is free - unless you want DVD playback, in which case you have to pony up $10.

Media Player Classic is a better choice if you want to watch Real media video or DVD's.

BS Player is okay but kind of buggy - Core Media Player is better.

As for VideoLAN, that is the slowest, buggiest, sorriest excuse for a media player I've ever come across. Avoid it like the plague.

This is an excellent media player. A nice and simple GUI (which I like) complete with an equaliser for the audio.

It gives good control over the video's independent vertical height and width and has probably the best zoom feature that I have yet seen on a media player, and easily controlled too.

The Overlay mixer is hard to find as its tucked away in tools, (the obvious Overlay Mixer shortcut in Filter Properties does nothing).

The freeware version supports just about every format yet devised (inc WinAmp pluggins), except for DVD support ($10), which makes it half the price of Zoomplayer Pro (DVD version).

If your looking for versatile 'player this is well worth a look. If I wasn't so keen on Zoomplayer I would say its the best available. Nuff said.
