Not sure if I should post a comment based on just one use, but here goes anyway. I needed to edit down a WMV file, and wasn't finding a lot of good freeware options. AVIdemux is listed here as supporting that format, but it is not one of the formats specified on their Load File list. I was somewhat skeptical based on the age / abandonware aspect of Movica, and a bit wary based on the comment about crashes in Win-7 64-bit.
Well, first, I can confirm what alshebl4ever reported. Rather than take my chances, I just cut to the chase and tried the older 0.6.2.1 version. It installed, it ran, it worked. I can also endorse the comments by Erg322. The program's design appears to be intelligent and straightforward. The use of it was (for me) much easier, simpler, cleaner, more free of glitches or frustration than has been my halting attempts at using other editors like AVIdemux, VideoRedo, and VirtualDub. There _was_ some clunkiness in the FF or FR navigation, the not-that-smooth or finely controlled manual scrolling through the video via dragging the button, or keeping Sound | Picture sync *while doing this.* BUT, I can forgive these things because the end result was quite smooth and everything I could have hoped for -- and most especially on an unfamiliar first try.
The As-You-Go Cut List on the right, with the later options for Toss It or Keep It etc., is intuitive and close to brilliant, in my opinion. I printed out the Help File first, but had only minimal need to refer to it on this initial job. I'm looking forward to further use of this program. Let me echo the sentiment expressed here by others that it would be a terrible shame if Movica has indeed ceased all further development. It has too much going for it to be abandoned !

Unfortunately this tool isn't supported anymore from the developer since 2008..
& since the latest version doesn't work on win 7 64-bit (Crashes when trying to open the app), & because i really needed this tool i tried some of the old versions & luckily there was an old version that worked which is v0.6.2.1
but it'd be really appreciated if this tool is supported once again..

I prefer freeware and have little patience so I expect a user friendly interface.
I ran Movica and for editing and joining .wmv videos and it was well set out and quick to respond. What information I needed was excellent in a 2 tier arrangment of quick instructions and then detailed instructions if you need them online. You can see the person in charge has had a need and made a usefull program to fill that need from a users perspective rather than a screen full of buttons and boxes and too many choices and decisions.
The feedback in the trace tab was excellent and made finding problems very easy.
I found in editing it was useful to take on a mindset of "do you want the selected parts or do you want to select parts then use the unselected portions".
I'm very impressed and very thankful to the programmers for providing and designing a well thought out relatively fast and user friendly software. I wish more software was as good in quality.
Note. The online guides are incorporated into the help files. You just need to be online.

I was looking for something that could do basic cut & join edits (a la VirtualDub) on wmv's without requiring recompression, and ALSO with a graphical interface. I've only just started to explore Movica, but within minutes of downloading it I was able to edit segments out of some hi-bitrate wmv's so quickly, easily, seamlessly and effectively. And again, no recompression or format conversion required! It should get even better when I start looking into some of the other features, including those for MPEGs. It's even nice simply as a video player. And it's all free. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
