I have saved several VHS-C video cassettes and the capture hardware saves exclusively in ".mpg" format. The operation generated several files of about 1.7-1.8 GB. Thanks to your software I was able to cut unnecessary scenes without having to convert to other formats first, with extreme simplicity, with impressive speed and without blocks or crashes. I have tried several free software to do this job (for example: DaVinci resolve 19, VirtualDUB, VidCutter, etc. etc.) but without success. Thank you so much for this wonderful software. Rating 10/10 well deserved!!!

I gave it a test to try the smart cut aspect of the program. I am happy to report with the .h264 mp4 file I put in to edit that the program exported the file with the frame accurate cuts and no problems such a lip sync issues resulted which is terrific. I chose the option to put chapter marks at each edit point but that did not work but I can live without that but it would have been nice.
It did overly tax my Windows 11 Mini PC and I went into this thinking at first that this was a lot like AviDemux but the Smart Cut gives this program and edge. Thank you to the person who made this program. It seems to be Spyware free according to the Eset Nod 32 scan that I did. Windows Defender and Windows 11 didn't want me to install this program but I took a chance and so far so good.

I stayed with v3.52 as with subsequent updates I had a lot of problems with frame accuracy and exporting. Now with this latest version (v3.63) all the problems seem to be fixed and it really works faster and smoother than the previous one. Thanks to the author for this great software. 10/10

This is the ONLY app that was able to cleanly, quickly and losslessly merge a video and an audio file for me. I had tried other apps before, but none did the task as easily and efficiently. Most can't do it without re-rendering, which takes a lot of time, increases the file size and degrades quality (one exception being QuickTime Player, but it often can't process some files, especially longer ones).
The app does exactly what it promises: cuts, joins and merges losslessly, and it's a rare case when free software does a far better job than paid programs.

Most video editors are not lossless - when you cut out a section they re-encode everything (Corel VideoStudio and Camtasia do this). This can lead to the copy of a copy of a copy issue of increased degradation. I was hoping that this would avoid that and it seemed to do a good job of that. Unfortunately it doesn't do clean cuts at the spot where I cut them. Example: If I cut a video at 3:00.15 (3 minutes, 0 seconds, 15th frame) the exported video would be cut at 2:58.15. This resulted in 2 seconds of what I was trying to cut still being there. I zoomed in on the timeline to get the cut exactly where I wanted it, and on the zoomed in timeline it was cut in the proper place, but the exported video showed that it did not cut where I requested. It happened multiple times in multiple files I tried editing. For me this is a deal breaker so I uninstalled it.

I'm posting this because my last "review" gave the program very bad ratings, which wasn't fair.
My point is that until v. 3.50, the program worked fine on my Win 7x64 machine. Then, with v. 3.51 and those after it, it doesn't work anymore because, as the github article explained, the dev made a technical change that he knew would terminate Win 7 support.
He's the dev, it's his program, and he explained his logic clearly. Of course this is absolutely fair, whereas, because of the way I wrote it, my last review wasn't fair.
I hope this clarifies things.

I need to split a 24G mp4 file so I can upload/download it more reliably. I was about to pay for a commercial program bandycut but the trial program is so crippled I can't make it work. I moved on and found losslesscut.
It is not designed to split a file quickly, so you have to specify the cut points (on key frames) and then export the segments. At first it gave me an error. After some test I found I have to select .mov as output format to make it work. Doesn't make sense but it works and is free. I think the output segments are lossless but have not verified. I did verify the cut segments play seamlessly across boundaries when placed in a video editor.

Does a perfect job for what I needed. When trying to clip gaming videos with the default windows clipping program, they would come out at half the framerate (from 60 to 30) and the color profile would be bleached. This program allows me to clip videos and keep both the original framerate and color profile as well as editing audio tracks, 5 stars all around for this free and useful program.

I love finding a tool that does what I need and does it exceptionally well (and as a bonus: looks good while it's doing it). I was looking for a GUI frontend for FFMPEG that would split .mp4 video files that I have that each contain multiple TV show episodes, in order to split them each into one individual file per episode. My main requirement of the task: to do so withOUT re-encoding. I've used ffmpeg command-line to do this, and that does it well, but it's a bit tedious. Today I googled and found LosslessCut, tried it for the first time, and it makes quick and easy work of it! I've only used it for a half an hour, and I don't often post reviews for things, (and I have no affiliation whatsoever to the developer), but this tool deserves the credit! This is a great piece of software!

Got the portable version to cut my gaming videos. Works great so far, only takes a few seconds to save a cut segment. Very easy to use, simple settings and you can safely go with all defaults. Just what I needed.

I´ve been using Losslesscut for a month believing in reviews that it would just cut without losing original video quality. I was using it to trim VHS captured videos. So I decided to compare some frames from original (captured) VHS video to trimmed using losslesscut. It loses a lot of quality, in both original color and those artifacts that are not in original video. Re-rending process takes more time, but the quality is much better

I don't know why people complain about this freeware. I processed about 50 VHS to mp4 files and used LosslessCut to cut and merge each of these videos into final format. All worked perfectly and very fast, with no quality degradation - unless you need professional level video editing, which comes with a professional price, I highly recommend this product...it's a winner!

As it says in its description "It does not decode / encode" so the cut can only be performed on the keyframe. To penalize with a bad score for not doing what is already information that cannot be done seems incorrect to me.

When I cut a video, I expect to be able to cut on the exact frame I select, not the closest keyframe or whatever. To me, there is no point otherwise.
"Normal cut" mode is supposed to be frame accurate, like I want it. Unfortunately, it is not working properly. Every video I tried to cut with LosslessCut in "Normal cut" mode, ends up problematic. Playback always freezes for a few seconds when it reaches the cut points. This happens for every cut in every file I test, they all end up faulty.
I hope they will be able to fix it soon (it's been like this since the beginning) because this program has one of the most user friendly and beautiful interfaces I've ever seen and it is really fast. Otherwise, it's totally unsuitable for frame accurate cuts.

Works fine if you don't need precision. Despite having two cutting methods, one for keyframes and one for "normal" cuts, it is poor at cutting exactly where you need it. I needed several fast cuts from ~100 videos, and 20 videos into the job I noticed I was losing about 1 second from clips that were 3 or 4 seconds long.

Needs work on precision. When I put it on the markers, it leaves in 5 second of footage I don't want. Also an option to just cut an intended section out (As in put the marker on a section I don't want, cut that part out then merge the video from there) would be nice. Otherwise it's a good bit of software that nearly hits the mark. Hope the next update uses the suggestions given.

There are some limitations:
"LosslessCut is based on Chromium and uses the HTML5 video player, not all ffmpeg supported formats will be supported directly"
this means it does not support X265/HEVC or fairly common containers like .avi or .mkv
AviDemux works better for me.

But there are few bugs in this version
The time timing at the Left and Right Markers are not working, even if we set some value, it is neither getting set, nor the cursor is moving there. Only the left and right markers are working with the Marker arrows and not with the timing. Also when we set the markers, the timing is not getting changed.
When I set a left marker, I am getting the output audio with 5 secs left of the marker set.

Szukałem szybkiego i darmowego programu. Znalazłem. LosslessCut 2.1.0 jest najszybszym z tych które testowałem (około 10 programów). Wyszukuje po klatkach kluczowych. Mogę precyzyjnie ustawić czas. No po prostu bajka! Polecam!

Machete is a far superior and accurate editing too regarding key frame cutting, unfortunately not free. This software still needs a bit of work.

Brilliant free software more than adequate for trimming screen recorded TV programmes of commercials mainly at the beginning & end simple & quick.

Tested the latest version cutting at key frame which should remove just the first portion, key frame to key frame. It was fast but works like ffmpeg on 264 codec. FFprobe reports first frame time is 1.268 which is the amount of freeze frame shown at the beginning when you play it. Needs to at least cut maximum 2 frames before key frame for such as .065983 which is less noticeable or use algorithm that allows first frame to be zero (0.00000)

After cutting an AVC video it had about 5 seconds of black before the cut video started so had to cut it earlier to get the video I needed.
Also it just sits at 0% for several minutes before it starts to do anything which is disconcerting. If I hadn't left it to eventually work I would have thought it had frozen and would have abandoned it. This was cutting a 3.5GB section from an 11.5GB video.
Simple and very easy to use but seems to need a bit of work still.

Awesome tool! Unequaled for ease of use, efficiency, speed.It puzzles me that non of the video editing softwares (often very expensive) I encountered is capable of doing this! Thanks to the developer for sharing!

Just tried it out in Linux. Works fine, very simple and easy to use.
For those that don't know, frame accuracy will never work for stream cutting long GOP formats. Cuts will always need to be made on key-frames. This is common knowledge with ffmpeg.
