Lightweight and simple. Plays blurays - with menus - also from ripped folder or unmounted .iso image. And it's free.

I've tried Leawo Blu-ray Player before, it's quite a nice one if you want to play back the region-locked Blu-ray movies, or convert Blu-ray/DVD to MKV format (need to upgrade to Premium Version and I haven't tried this yet).

Not an improvement. Also it crahses most of the times. VLC is the better solution sofar for BluRay ISO files.

When it works, it works beautifully and easily.
Unfortunately, it crashes 9 times out of 10.

Does not render Blu-ray discs properly. All I get is a green pixilated screen with choppy playback. Absolutely no change from v1.10.0.1 Other software plays the same discs with no problems.

update - I have switched to leawo blu-ray player 1.8.0.0 - no conflict with adguard now. This is an older pay version.
It seems when the made the new players free, they threw in the pause ad for their other software, and the search for java for the bd-j menu during application start. These are not in this version. It still connects to the internet, but not to port 61110. No conflict with adguard and no cpu usuage on start for a minute.

I like this player, but had to uninstall it. It conflicts with adguard because it connects to the internet on startup - It listens to port 61110 - it is looking to see if you have java for the bd-j menu, which I do not use, as I do not play discs, on downloaded files. During pause to show the dvd-copy ad, it switches ports every time it is paused - this didn't change the cpu, only the startup of the plaer did, but the ad is a flashing one. I have tried to not let adguard monitor it, and have blocked the ports with a firewall - and also used a hips program to block it from the internet and executing extra files. The player and adguard conflict and use high cpu for about a minute on startup. I like the player, it plays 2160 mkv files with little cpu - which my other players do not. Looking for a replacement - or may try an earlier version.

There are several Blu-ray player apps based on Kodi -- in my experience Leawo's seems to work the most reliably. Players like PowerDVD Ultra pay the Blu-ray licensing fees & can display the Java-based menus & features, but they also recognize Cinavia -- the new DVDFab v.5 player is supposed to handle the menus/features as well, but haven't tried it yet -- while these Kodi-based players decrypt the disc if/as necessary [why the on-line connection is needed], & only play the videos. Like other Leawo apps I've tried, their Blu-ray player has one habit that annoys -- installation adds Microsoft C/C++ runtimes, but the setup files for those runtimes are copied & run from root rather than the temp folder, leaving behind those setup & a bunch of garbage files. It's not a big deal to delete them, but I find having the extra step, vs. just emptying the temp folder periodically, annoying.

There is no 'relevant knowledge' question during installation, nor is there any watermark as another review suggested.
There is however an annoying pop-up whenever you pause a movie asking if you want to "copy and backup the disc" - an advertisement for other Leawo software.

Nice interface, good quality play back. Obviously real effort has gone into this software.
But it doesn't work for me without an Internet connection (in fact a 32 bit process loads into memory, but there is no UI).
That probably won't be an issue for most, but I can't use it with this flaw.

Best Bluray player. Always perfect audio playback and in sync. Something that cannot be said from other Bluray players.

I just tonight noticed a new version of Laewo BD player at version 1.8 after having been at 1.0 for months and installed it on my macpro. It plays back nicely even for a mac and bluray menus work much better than the initial version. Nice to see them still developing for osx. BTW-I paid for a lifetime license. Now it is free. Based on xbmc and functions nicely. I am happy not having to resort to parallels/xp for playback.
