This is a solid and lightweight splitter for not only Matroska, but AVI, Ogg, and MP4 too. Installing the splitter enables unified language switching for all these formats. This functionality belongs in a splitter, and not any single audio codec. Haali will add a Language menu to the basic classic Media Player (mplayer2.exe), making it adequate for playback of multi-lingual and subtitled files. It works well together with most versions of ffdshow (including the latest build 4530), to form essiantially a fully featured player.
Haali may not support all obscure stream formats, but for vast majority of files it is the best choice. I wouldn't recommend using the program for MPEG Programs (VOBs). I had performance and stability issues on my computer. Maybe it is the nature of the packetized, random access container, that causes it.

The latest version (December of 2009) still has a lot of bugs.
Better not to try it until the author fixes its major problems.

It's working in Windows 7 x64, but subtitles missing while plying mkv files using MPC HC x64!
