Don't even waste your time trying this software, it is NOT FREE!! I just spent an hour removing commercials from a football game, only to discover that it inserts a HUGE WATERMARK on ALL output unless you PURCHASE a subscription for either $19/mo or $39/yr. Thanks a lot for wasting my time!

Does not start under WindowsXP. "Unsupported graphic system"
It seems to be not free, due the watermark.

The 1.4.13.805 version can still be downloaded from http://www.tucows.com/preview/1600233
However after giving it a pretty good try it seems that it does not do frame accurate clipping after all! All it does is starts the trimmed output block at a nearby keyframe and doesn't try to do any "smart-rendering" to give you a few extra frames before an existing keyframe.
So don't bother wasting your time with it, it provides no extra functionality over free tools like avidemux (which as of version 2.6 also insists on starting an output block at a keyframe).

For anyone who wants to to use the 1.4.13.805 version its uploaded to my Mega Cloud.
Its the last version before the started shamelessly charge for it even when they spam us with malware crap.
Its very useful for lossless editing, the best tool I seen in this category.
Just make sure you read very carefully through the installation and block the program through firewall to prevent it from forcing itself updating.

Bundleware or bloatware installer...
unnecessary takes lots of space in ur hdd.
Bigger HDD now days doesn't mean to fill it up with all craps...
any other small size freeware can do this work wat it does...

@peacefulwaze: Your DropBox link is dead. Do you still have that version at hand?
This has a lot of potential to be a useful software, but adware crap and blocked functionality due to payment options make it rather useless. Also, calling it FREE Video Editor is now misleading and ridiculous. Bad choice of business!

Found this to be great software as I only needed to edit without reencoding.
As noted by redGuitar in a previous post...
"BEWARE! As of v1.4.15 this software now requires you to pay to have lossless conversion of videos; this was a feature that was FREE in earlier versions."
I found a previous version (1.4.13.805) on Tucows and have put it in my Dropbox in case anyone else needs a copy.
Note also as mentioned it is bundleware so use custom install when installing or you'll end up with unwanted software.

"Free Video Editor is a free video editing software which lets you delete unwanted parts from video files without re-encoding" - except that to save without re-encoding requires a "Premium Membership" for the low, low fee of $14.95 per annum.
This was a direct to dumpster feature that I didn't want - along with the toolbar and registry cleaner that you might end up with if you're the trusting sort.

Although it's mentioned Win All as operating system, after installing it on my Windows 10 x64, when to start it, got a message: Program doesn't support your operating system. So, you better correct the info: only for x32 OS, or whatever it works on...

BEWARE! As of v1.4.15 this software now requires you to pay to have lossless conversion of videos; this was a feature that was FREE in earlier versions. As of the newest version you still have the same features to edit videos (at least that remains) but any videos saved will be *re-encoded* into your codec of choice. You can find earlier versions on those sites that archive earlier versions of apps...look on these sites for the truly free versions.

The very purpose of this tool is for cut edit and save in the original format.
But save to original format is disabled and greyed out saying for premium only.
That means it is no more a freeware.

does the job, cuts and splits quickly and easily, no need for reencoding or cutting at keyframes. Have only tried it on a few mp4 and mkv files, and only issue has been it wont resave soft subtitle tracks iirc, possibly to avoid sync problems, but has no issue resaving multiple audio tracks, tho noticed it wont preview a dts 5.1 track, but has no problem with 2ch aac.
fwiw, the adware alert is fine but pointless to criticize people recommending it over, 90% of freeware nowdays has this issue, and i was told in the forums being a new member and recommending "adware" made me suspicious, but the fact is the adware included isnt a big deal to decline, and theres no recurring ads once installed

Every time this app gets updated, I check to see if it can do a simple, one cut edit of a commercial from a 720p M2TS file recorded using my Hauppauge 1212 DVR. Today ... still a nice effort but no cigar. The resultant video will not play in the latest VLC Media Player. It does play in the paid for version of J. River Media Center 18 ... but the video is choppy and audio is out of sync. I have been pestering the developers for SMARTCUTTER to change their complicated, hard to use interface into the simple one that this programs uses ... but the SMARTCUTTER folks won't change...however...SMARTCUTTER does work...this program does not. Please keep trying ... love the simplicity of this interface.

Tried to trim a m2ts file. It first converted the file to mp4, the full video that it converted to mp4 had both sound and video, but the conversion lost a lot of the quality. Also, the saved, trimmed clip had no video, just sound.

I found this also works on TRP (DVB stream recordings).
very easy to use but very cheeky adware.
Asks during installation AND after closing APP if you want to install bloat.
Other than that I have not found a thing that matches it for ease of deleting commercials.

Love it. Works perfectly on gopro video files. you can remove the boring sections and then save the output with no loss in quality. Plus it does it lightning fast. No re-encoding. This software is perfect for people who don't want to lose quality of their video after removing sections.

Used Free Video Dub to cut some mkv files. It worked perfect and was fast. Usually I use Avidemux for cutting but it has problems with some mkv files. The program is very simple to use. Just mark an area to remove and click the X then select the next area to remove and click the X. When done save the file. That's it. I don't know if does anything else but I don't care since all I wanted it to do was delete parts of video files and it worked perfect for me.
