I used to use DVDShrink as the image output was far superior and sharper to CloneDVD using the default sharp and low compression-no more than 20%, keeping 80% of source input, but that came at a cost- pixellation and macro blocking. Even using the 'smooth' output still couldn't avoid macroblocking.
With CloneDVD compressing to 75% output the macro blocking is minimal and no dud scenes. DVDShrink expelled at low to medium bitrates but nearly half of my DVD inputs even using high bitrates ended up with some problematic scenes. CloneDVD has none of these problems and has become a very useful tool as it is dead easy to strip out menus and unwanted audio tracks/junk with it, but I wouldn't compress to more than 60% of the main video to be on the safe side. I sometimes compress a favourite film to 4.36gb(if a dual layered one!) then use MakeMKV to make a lovely mkv file of it.

May not have as much built in stuff as DVD shrink (I.E Combine programs to one structure) but it is the only one that can output a good movie folder from a faulty one when used with ANYDVD. dvd shrink sometimes mess up titles so I had to go back and re-rip them. So for archiving alone this is the way to go

Thought I would try this after reading the reviews, But when I did a test between clonedvd and dvd shrink, dvd shrink was about 3 minutes faster, For an old program shrink is hard to beat, and it sure works great.

The only thing that Shrink does better is blank out unwanted menu items - useful if you are using RipIt4Me. Other that that, this smokes Shrink.
