Bought four 50-packs from Micro Center, It was $9.99 each during Xmas'05 and is $11.99 now in Feb.'06. After recording all 200 DVDs, there were 40+ failures (about 20% failed). Half of the failure occurred in the middle of recording, the other half failed on the area near the outer circumference occupied by the last file when the DVD is used close to it's full capacity. I used the same Micro Advantage 16DDVDRW-A13 writer and Nero6 software on Verbatim and Maxell media was able to achieve 98%+ successful rate. I would not buy this WINDATA again.

I was a little skeptical of these discs as I had never heard of "windata". I purchased a 50 pack for $13.88 from ABC Warehouse, located in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Took them home and ran "dvd identifier" on them and was shocked to find they were made my "taiyo yuden"! Heralded as one of the industry standards and the best media to buy.

I would like to post a follow up Comment to my earlier post. After upgrading my LVW-5005 system and drive firmware everything seems to be perfect. No more stuttering or stalling of anything burned even to cd-r for svcd. These apparently are made in Taiwan and Hong Kong and was worried that the quality would vary but soo far I quite pleased with the value and performance of these affordably priced disks. If you have a Lite-on Burner give them a try as they work great for me. As always upgrade your firmware and check media compatibility lists before buying ANY brand of media regardless of recommendation. Just because something doesnt work for your hardware doesnt mean it isnt perfect for someone elses.

I initially thought what I had purchased was a good deal. After about 40 sucessful burns and only 2 coasters I thought everything was ok. But I started to playback a couple of discs and watch them in thier entirety. What the other user reported was true for me. It seems as if my dvd standalone player just chokes at different intervals, sometimes I can skip past othertimes not. I use the Lite-on LVW-5005 standalone and it has no problem recognizing/preparing/recording/finalizing the discs but now im worried that the discs I have made are just a waste of time. Im using the stock firmware and maybe if I upgrade to the latest it might help so ill be sure to do that and post a followup comment. The picture quality is excellent from the burns and a couple seem to be ok in my laptop drive but only time and further testing will tell. I think that I will not take any chances and in the future will only buy quality media such as Verbatim Datalife Plus, TDK, Sony and Yamaha. Anything from Japan even the cheaper stuff I suppose is worth a try but stay away from anything made in China or Taiwan.

I was able to burn these at 16x but reading them was differnt story. Burning at lower speeds dident seem to help either. The data disc's I burnt appear to read fin ein my pc but the movie I burnt won't read at all. It however will play in my standalone dvd player although it seems to choke several times durring the move. I hate to say but I don't think these disc's are even worth the $9.99 at Microcenter that I paid for them and this will be the 1st time I have ever returned media.

These cheap ($14.99 for 50 @ microcenter or buy 3 or more @ $11.99 each) are well worth the $$$. Out of 50 disc, only burned one or two coasters and it was my fault for burning on the fly when the reader was unable to keep up with the burner. Was able to burned at 16X only on the maddog burner. Iomagic and Pioneer burner only burn at 8X. Playback quality is excellent.
