I bought this from office max for $39.00, while waiting for my "new" pioneer DVR 109 to come in and you know what , I am keeping this and sending back the pioneer..... This baby is awesome... After numerious test DVD's this records nicely on just about everything... burns ty 02's at 12x plus..... Not too fussy on cdr media either. The pioneer is very picky about the blank media you use and also I found it to be a slower drive..... Overall I am very impressed with this unit for under $43.00 w/ Tax and a 2 year warranty how can you go wrong? The only thing may be that it will not write to DVD -R DL but prices are so high right now for DL media. I did by a Ritek DL + and this baby never missed a beat burnt " The incredibles" about 7.8 Gig used DVD decrypter took 41 Min. But plays in every DVD player I Have tried. (Older Sony,Mintek , Ets.) I give this DVD Burner from Mad Dog A Big Thumbs Up ! One last thing I did have a question when I first purchased and I called their 800 number from online site and in less than 5 Mins a real person helped me ! works good. Burns verbatim dvd+r dl disc no problems. Doesn't burn Ritek dvd+r dl discs though. Says it does on their media compatability list but faults out every time even with the latest firmware upgrade. Tech support is minimul. Drive burns the following great: Ritek dvd+rw 4X, Ritek dvd-rw 4x, Memorex dvd+rw 2.4X, Teon dvd-r 8x (awesome and cheap), and Optodisc w002 dvd-rw 2x. When they update the firmware for better ritek dl media support this drive will de superb. Comments posted by jim from United States, December 06, 2004. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

Bought this one at OfficeMax for $79 after rebate. Installed fine with no glitches, and includes Nero software. Haven't tried dual layer capability yet (blanks are too expensive). Comments posted by Bruce from United States, November 08, 2004. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |

I have had this drive for about a month. Purchased at Compusa for 99.00. I see prices now have dropped a bit. Fastest media I have used is Verbatim 8x and is superb. No bad disk to date. I have 16x disk on the way. I use both +r verbatim and -r memorex and both work flawlessly. Very quiet. Brand name Mad Dog, I believe OEM is NEC so I was willing to try it out. Had a lite on 411 before this. Appreciate the new speed. It runs a lot. Highly recomended Comments posted by Al Menard from United States, October 24, 2004. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |
