Correction from my first post (the original) firmware on drive was bad... upgraded firmware, and burn perfectly at 4X, no coasters after using 50 disks

Tried burning at 4X (advertised) and made 4 coasters..
Disc layers don't appear sealed near center hole, they are clearly seperating.

on a GSA-4081b (Firmware A100) it works at 2X, with the odd time it working at 2.4X. Cannot get it to run at 4X.

Burned on both LG GSA 4040B (with BHA's Gold 5)and GSA 4081B (with BHA's Gold 7.12). LG burners are having problems recognizing correct speed, that's why the company's posting firmware upgrade every few weeks but without success. Burned 20 discs, no failure. All discs play well on set top Citizen (Electrohome) DVD player, DVD-ROM and PS2. One problem: when I apply a label, movie stops playing somewhere in the middle. This happens only to set top player, DVD-ROM plays well. I've had this problem with all the brands I've burned. Any suggestions?
