| I just bought this drive, and am using Princo true 2x disks. Burned em perfectly at 2x, and plays them back on my Cyberhome dvd player without any issues. | Yesterday I tested Princo DVD-R 2X for General or Video Use and this Disk works very well !! I tested it on 4 different DVD Players (Cat,Daytek,Cyberhome,Elta). All Players have no problems ! | I bought ($224) this burner 3 weeks ago online with no software and no instructions (OEM) and its worked great. I had to figure out what burning software worked with my situation and it turns out that RecordNowMax is the preferred choice. I've had problems with Princo 2X media not playing in my Toshiba SDR3750 standalone so I switched to Ritek and so-far-so-good (no coasters). The burner is quite and works like its supposed to. | A great Recorder, but be careful with DVD-R from Intenso !!! This Media is only with Pioneer compartible. I burn 4 times the same movie. On Pc the movie works great, but on any Stand-Alone DVD Players , the Movie stops at the last 20-30 minutes !!! With Pinco DVD-R Medias it works great but only 1X ! EMTEC are also good, but olso 1X ! | I bought this after a bit of research and it is worth the price. I got a very good deal on this drive. I burnt DVD-R and DVD-RW on un-branded media and both worked fine on my Panasonic cv52 dvd player. Burnt CD-R at 16X in 8 minutes...worked great. Overall excellent buy for a new comer. | Bought this in Hong Kong for HKD1780 (~US$215) OEM package with softwares, 1 yr warranty but no disk. Flashed to RPC 1 firmware without problem Run smoothly with Nero and PowerDVD. Tried capturing DV with Ulead Video Studio 6 and burned with cheap DVD-R version 2.0 (US$ 1.7 a piece). The resulting DVD plays well on my old Sony DVD player which hardly been able to play any CD-R before. Really silent. Reasonably fast when you compare with the time for DV capturing and rendering. | Hammergerät, zwar mit seinem 2x DVD-R genauso teuer wie die neuen 4x DVD-R Geräte, aber die Leistung ist satt, komplette Unterstützung aller Medien. Problemlose Einbindung mit diverser Software. Wie die meisten hier schon meinten, leise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Die CD-Write Eigenschaften sind super. Vorher Plextor 24x als Brenner gehabt,bin der Meinung der TOSHI schreibt besser. Gibts derzeit in GERMANY bei Sa..rn und Medi..arkt für 299€ als gutes Bundle retail. Scheiss auf die Geschwindigkeit, Kompatibilität und fertig gebrannte DVD´s machen das Ding zum Alleskönner. | Awesome DVD-Writer overall, just writin' to report compatibilty experiances. DVD-Rs from Princo (cheap-Os at allmediaoutlet.com) work great, even though speed is only 1x when burning. DVD-RWs from Memorex (General, Ver. 1.1) work fine with the writer, but my DVD player (Panasonic DVD-RV30) doesn't play em :(. I don't reccomend them really, you'll see why (by the way, their manufacturer ID is Ritek). DVD-RWs from Princo (General, Ver. 1.1) also work flawlessly with the writer, but they are A LOT cheaper then the Memorex brand - I got em for $1.19 (single packs) from shop4tech.net . I am COMPLETELY satisfied with the Writer's CD-R/RW burning capabilities. Yes, it burns "weak" sectors, because it has correct EFM encoding (at least with the 1030 firmware). Works great for CD back-ups. If anybody happens to know a cheap 2x DVD-R brand (probably one that I can buy online), please be sure to drop me an e-mail with the name, and if possible the place/web site where I can get 'em. | I bought this writer some days ago. I wrote CDR at 16x, CDRW at 4x and DVD-R Sentinel& TDK at x2, DVD-RW Sentinel at 1x. No media was destroyed at all. | I have the Toshiba for a couple of weeks now and it burns very good. Every cd-r I tried was a succes. When burning Memorex DVD-RW's however every disc turned into a frisby which was frustrating. But when trying SONY DVD-RW's it burns and rewrites like crazy. I asked Toshiba about this problem and they said that the device was certified for:Taiyo-Yuden, TDK, Verbatim, Maxell, Mitsui, Pioneer, Panasonic, Ritek and CMC. | Buono, veramente un buon prodotto. L'ho comprato perché era il più economico (meno di €.300 su essedi.it) e ho incrociato le dita... e mi è andata bene. DVD-R scrittura obbligata a 2x, a 1x si brucia il dvd. Ho provato sia dei bulk che brand: sui bulk verso la parte esterna si generano degli errori che si vedono sul lettore stand-alone (pioneer 535) e che possono bloccarlo, ma spegnendo-riaccendendo e dando play si riprende esattamente dal punto di blocco. | I just installed this drive about 2 hours ago and love it. I haven't had a chance to burn any DVD's, but this thing burns CD-R's flawlessly! My biggest compliment is the fact that this thing makes almost zero noise. I have never had a CD drive of any type this quiet. I will definitely add more, the more that I play with it. | I got the Drive a month ago and have been heavily testing it... As far as CD-R and CD-RW: it is an awsome CD-R/W burner and has worked with every brand of media I have Tried. As far as DVD-R and DVD-RW: I have used 3 different brands of DVD-RW (Memorex, Verbatum, and Optodisc) and they have all recorded and erased flawlessly except for the optodisc brand which I recorded 3 times on it and erased twice, then when I went to erase the 3rd time.... the Drive errored out and ruined the disk. I have used 2 brands of DVD-R, Memorex from BestBuy (consisting of 2 5-packs totaling around $40) and Leda/Princo from www.shop4tech.com (consisting of a spindle of 50 disks totalling around $40 as well). The Memorex @ $4/disk vs. Leda/Princo at $.80/disk. I created movies using Sonic MyDVD. Every Single Memorex was a frisbee, every Leda/Princo Disk has been flawless and works great. This Drive has to have major compatibility issues with the Memorex brand DVD-R 2.0 (General Purpose) disks. I have used Memorex Brand Media for years, but this drive doesn't like'em so if you get this drive you will need to stay away from them... but the cheap-o Lead/Princo worked Flawlessly and are inexpensive...
