| I bought this about a month ago from MWAve and the bundled DVDRW recording software did not work with the unit. It wasn't supported. But, I think it's MWaves fault since it was white box and not retail box. But, I use the latest Nero to burn all DVDRW, DVDR, CDR and CDRW. I even used DVDXCopy to backup all my DVD Movies. This unit is awesome. Never burned a coaster yet. Very quiet and plays all media format flawlessly. Highly recommended! Comments posted by Grossomotto from Other, December 09, 2002. | I bought this recorder barebones OEM for $232- shipped from micropro.com. I say it work as expected. Not fast by CD standards but the DVD recording world in still in its infancy. Was able to burn -r and -r/w video with no problem. I was able to record data to the -r/w with Easy CD Creator but unable to record data to -r since the media I bought 1X media and Easy CD Creator only writes 2X for this recorder. So be mindful and buy 2X -r media for all around usefulness. I used Princo media from allmediaoutlet.com. Princo does the job. Comments posted by Larry from Other, November 23, 2002. | I've had the drive for about a week, Purchased from jazztechnologies.com. So far Ive burned 3 DVD's on Ritek DVD-R's w/ few problems. The bundle was an OEM package that came w/ some software "that I didnt even look at" that is included in the Retail version. I made on date disk for ghost and it booted fine on 2 of my systems, and copied one movie. I made one coaster but belive it was my fault since I used the NERO wizard to create it, but the second try in manual mode worked fine in 2x. Also burns CD-R's welkl at 16x. Ripped and copied the new Joe Satriani CD for my car faster than my plextor 12x did. This is a great all in one drive that im going to put into my upcoming XPC case from shuttle since it comes w/ only 1 x 5 1/4 bay. Comments posted by Rebelaggie from Other, November 11, 2002. | I purchased this unit a week ago. The software that comes with the unit is very basic. The only problem I noticed is that the unit takes a long time to finalize a DVD after it has finished recording. Also I have had best luck with name brand DVD-R discs. I purchased unbranded $1 DVD-R discs at PC Club on sale and these would not play a movie I recorded on any stand-alone player I have (JVC or Mintek). However when I bought Maxell DVD-R recordables ($4 each) every disc I created played on both DVD players.A big plus about this writer is that it is a combo CDRW drive.
