Once installed, which was easy, I used the software out of the box to capture, create and write my first DVD+R. Total time - less than 1 hour. Comes with very easy-to-understand software. I tested the burned DVD+R on 2 DVD player that were at least 2 years old - great compatibility with no problems. I only give it a 9 because paying $500 was not the most enjoyable part of it. In hindsite, it was worth it and I am very satisfied.

Bought this dvdwriter 5 days ago and I ahve no problem so far... I did 7 dvd+r dvd video and im using my dvd+rw to do some video testing before burning them on dvd+r... I dont have any trouble running dvd+r or dvd+rw on my dvd player and on all the dvd players of my friend.. im pretty satisfied with this product... I use HP DVD+R(W) media... I dont use the software that come with it simply cause I have access to better one like DVDIT P.E 2.5, Ulead dvdworkshop etc...

Got the DVD200i in 2 days from HP, and a 5-pack of +R's.
Replaced the DVD100i, got it running no problem.
ULead DVD Workshop trashed my first +R disk, because it
didn't understand the type of disk. But if I just created
the DVD folders, then burned using Nero, it recognized the +R
disk right off. I don't use much in the way of the included
software. With my combo of Dazzle DVC2, DVD Workshop,
and the DVD200i, I'm able to make DVDs the way I want to.

Just installed this unit and burned first DVDs.
No problem with installation but the software is slightly bizarre.
I can't tell if this is blazingly fast comparing to
other DVD burners but it burns complete (4.7GB) disk
for about 25 min. Apprently DVD+R data media is more compatible
with different DVD-ROM drives than DVD+RW data media as
I was able to read a burned data DVD+R disk in all available
to me DVD-ROMs but I can't say the same for data DVD+RW media.
Some DVD-ROMs refused to read a burned DVD+RW disk with data on it.
Next step is to try to make some DVD-Video disks.
