Under Windows NT 4.0 with Adaptec ASPI 4.60 & 4.72, DirectCD formatting results in a drive problem in which the Activity light would not go out (looks like the format went OK, the problem happened during format verification) and the eject button wouldn't work. Used VCDEasy to "unlock" the drive which turned off the Activity light. With ASPI 4.72, still couldn't eject w/the button, and drive could not be used until after reboot. With ASPI 4.60, *could* eject w/the button, after which drive was still not really usable (i.e., wouldn't recognize new CDs/DVDs when inserted)--resolved with reboot.
The CD appears to be formatted correctly, though.
Still need to try other brands to see if it's a drive or media problem. A friend has the same drive, working fine, on an XP box, so it could be an NT/Drive compatibility problem. (But he hasn't used this brand DVD-RW yet so still need to work that out.)
