Factory Reset/PROM/Region This DVD/VCR is manufactured by LG and so some hacks for LG also appear to work here. The remote works with TV for LG/Goldstar, Zenith, Samsung, Sony, Hitachi, which suggests something. Factory Reset: POWER ON SETUP TV Aspect 16:9 Wide ENTER 1,3,9,7,1,3,9 (type digits) ENTER Gives following information: Model: ZV800000010 Region: 1 Chip Id: MT1379C (or possibly MT1379L - bad handwriting) Man Ver: D303 Sub Ver: 0002 Server Ver: C110 Micro Ver: V8.BEI-2 PROM Option: 43 41 00 47 12 05 74 00 00 00 C0 40 20 00 02 FC PROM Hacking: Power on with empty disc tray Select DVD on remote PAUSE 1,4,7,2 (type digits) (Wait a second or two) Should display current PROM settings Arrow keys to select number to change Number keys to set number Hold number keys for Hex A-F ENTER after each change - (not confirmed) PAUSE to update ROM - (not confirmed) Power cycle to accept new values (not confirmed) I've no idea what changing the PROM might do, but hacks for other models enable/disable features. This model has all the features I need already enabled apart from... Region Hack The manufacturer appears to use a post-production method of setting the region code. You need an ISO 9660 CD with the following file on it: \RMTM0000\SCARLET\KPJC19_1.DVD The file itself is 4 bytes long. The bytes are: 17 17 8C 00 If like me you don't have a binary editor, you may be able to find this file on the net, possibly zipped into a file called lg6000.zip. When a CD containing this file is placed in the player, it will prompt for a region code, allowing you to play the DVDs you purchased overseas. 0 works as a region code. | |||
