Is the DVS5650B (as written on the box) same as DVS5650B?

I just bought this player here in Canada. It was listed as the 5650B. The "B" just stands for black. The region hack works great!

This 99990 hack worked a treat but I had to try it severall times. Opened the drawer; enter 99990 repeatedly until 'REGION 0' was displayed.

Make sure you open the DVD with the remote: -> Turn it on -> With the remote, open the disk drawer (press Stop) -> Enter 99990 -> It should say Region 0 on the screen Give it a try. I just bought it in Vancouver, and it worked. Just tried a Region 2/PAL DVD from France l8r

Hi..I just bought this model of Yamaha today in Ontario. Tried the above mentioned hacks and after several tries it worked, it is now set to region 0. Except now the player is asking for a password before it will play a disk.I never entered a password into the system, so, I don't know what the password is that it wants. Now it won't play anything. If I can't get some help with this..$250.00 down the drain.

Gregg, Try go to setup on your remote control. Select password, and disable it. Good luck.

The remote controll hack mentioned here worked great on DV-S560 bought at Best Buy on 02/27/2004.

I've applied the hack to the Yamaha DV S5650. However, the NTSC to PAL conversion exhibits frequent video sync problems--the image will slightly "hiccup" every few minutes or so. I'm outputting to a standard NTSC tv. My tv doesn't have component inputs, so I can't take advantage of the player's progressive scan. Any one else see this problem while playing PAL discs? |
