This an update from my previous comment , the hack is a winner i did it succesfully. You have to erase the words and numbers that save file ads to the file leaves only build.img on the first file and vr_dm3p.nxx on the second then burn the cd and follow the steps above. Result :zone free player

this hack worked until a region 2 disk was inserted. it still reads "incorrect disk." it does seem that there is an icon that looks like a mountain beside the open icon now that the firmware has been upgraded. still trying...any help would be great.

(The hack works until step 9. I have not yet rename the files as suggested by dlm) Here the message I get on screen when inserting a disc in a non modified R1 dvd player: R2 PAL : Region Code Error R0 PAL : Incorrect Disk In his message posted October 04 2005, Dave read "Incorrect Disk" after a region 2 disk was inserted. Could we conclude that the hack makes the Dvd player region free but does not do PAL/NTSC conversion?

After the step 9 the DVD player started the read of the CD that was burn. About two minutes later I got the message "Incorrect Disk". I waited some minutes (ten minutes) and the message still was in the screen. Did someone have the same situation ? Is it possible that the files downloaded were burned in wrong way ?

I think what the other poster stated is correct about PAL playback. I inserted a region free PAL DVD I made and get incorrect disc error. As for burning the cd, I used "disc at once" instead of "track at once" and make sure you finalize the disc. Also make sure you have the files named correctly from the second post. If that still does not work, you can add a 500MB dummy file to the cd first before you add the two files.
