This works 100% as tested on my player. The SD-42hk is a LG 5000 clone. Go to this site http://members.tripod.com/aiwaownersnetwork/pages/lg/5000_series_firmware.html And download the zip file. Extract the zip and burn the file onto a CD. Load the CD into the player and select region 0 Switch off and back on. | |||

Used the above Hack and it worked fine (So Happy) bought the player 20/05/03. The SD42HK is actually a clone of the LG-3620 but uses the same hack as the 5000. Burnt to disk using the built in software from Windows XP Pro, I did read on another forum to us a 650MB disk and NOT 700MB so I did to be sure. Put Disk in .... Select Reg 0 as new code Turn OFF and then Back ON Hey Presto !!! | |||

SVCD Hack To enable the Toshiba SD-42HK to play SCVD Discs, power on player with no disc. Press the pause button. Enter the code 1472. Press the up button 6 times. Add 1 in front of the value in PROM 7. Example if the value is 00 then change it to 10 by pressing keys 1 & 0. Press the enter key. Power off then back on again. It will now play SVCD Disc's although it will show them as VCD in the display window. This is the same hack as for the LG 5000 series. | |||
