PostRegion code hack posted by TSBFan_Germany, July 24 2007:

This hack worked on my SD-270E (German RC2 Version)

To determine chipset:
- Power On Player without disk in tray
- "No Disc" Message appears
- Press 000
- A Message showing Chipset ZRXX966 (Zoran Vaddis 9-66),
manufacturer (TSB) and RC (02) should appear

If this doesn't work, you may have a different chipset or at least chipset version and hack may or may not work for you...

The Hack Procedure:
- Power On
- Open Tray
- Press 9879 0 (0 stands for Multiregion, you may press buttons 1 to 6 to choose a specific region)
- A Message appears stating that "The Reg.No was changed to: [insert whatever region (0-6) you selected here]"

That's all, now you can watch every DVD you please... :)

Additional Information:
To get further info on your player do the following:
- Power On
- Open Tray
- Press 966
- This should show a screen listing RC, Firmware- and OS-Version, Manufacturer Label, etc.

Maybe someone from outside of Germany/Austria could confirm this information...

BTW: This DVD-Player is great! Silent, affordable and it takes all disks you force it to play... :D

Regards from Germany

I can confirm that this hack works for the UK version of the model as well.

In fact, it should work for all European versions, except, perhaps, France - but then the French have a weird TV system! :D

I tried the 2403960 hack posted by some of you, and this doesn't work. This is probably because my remote control doesn't have an 'ENTER' button, or 'OK' button. If it worked for your machine, then great.

Some others have also posted a hack that you need to burn onto a CD and then install onto your DVD player. This is not necessary.

Others have also posted that '9' is the number for multi-region, this is incorrect: Actually '0' is the multi region number.

The only hack that seems to work is the 9879[insert needed number].

So all you need to do, once the start screen is on is press:

9879; then 0 for multi-region.
Then you will get a message in the top right hand corner that says: 'this machine has been set to region 0' - this means it is now set to multi-region. Then just turn the player off and back on again and insert your disc.

If you want it to play only a particular region, then choose either 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc.

I'm not sure, but I think this hack should work for all Toshiba DVD players.

Happy viewing.

WooHoo! I tried this on my Toshiba sd-k770 (in the United States) and it worked! I would like to point out that after several failed attempts and much frustration, that I tried opening the tray first, then following the steps above, and that worked. Thank you, thank you.

This Hack also works for a Toshiba SD-690KY DVD Player purchased in Australia. I know I probably should have started a new thread for this message but I am unable to figure out how. One of the most user unfriendly forums I have ever left a message on.

Confirmed Region 0 hack and '966' version information code on my UK SD270E v1.0
Finally I know that if I back up to DivX/Xvid I don't have a Sigma or ESS chip and so don't have to use that setting in AutoGK :-)
