Region code hack posted by johnthurgoona, August 03 2006: | |||
The hack for the SD220 worked on my SD1850KY.This is a region 4 PAL machine. The file for burning to a VCD is available here: http://www.geocities.com/its_yahell/sd220e.rar I used Toast6 on a Mac according to the instructions on the SD220 thread. The unit was zone 4 only and now works with zone 2 and 4. I have not tested other zones. When Zoom 6 0 6 Zoom is used to display info about firmware, the zone of the last DVD played is shown. This must be done with no disc in the machine. The message can only be cleared by turning off the machine Instructions for Windows users are included in the rar file at this link. The instructions I found for Macs on the thread (October 30th 2003) were: "For Mac users, I managed a successful (but not yet verified) region free update CD with Toast 6. Use the Copy tab, and in the Advanced settings, select the bin/cue radio button. Then select one of the the bin/cue files that should have been unstuffed with Stuffit Expander. (You only need to choose one, and the other is also included). Press the red Toast button to burn the CD. Following the instructions for updating the DVD player (provided in the text file along with the bin/cue files and also found in earlier posts), I also received a message on the screen "Nabe the Wiz" and then "Fin". So I'm assuming it has also worked for my player." I had the messages come up and all seems well. I hope this helps. John |
