The same hack that works with many other Toshibas applies to this as well. Cut-and-pasted:

To see firmware information, turn the player on with the remote. Press Zoom, 6, 0, 6, Zoom. Information, albeit somewhat cryptic information, is displayed.

Zoom, 1, 0, 2, Zoom attempts to upgrade the firmware. Entirely useless :)

I USED THE CODE HACK FOR THE SD220E AND IT DIDN'T WORK, THE ONLY REASON I USED THIS IS BECAUSE ON OPENING MY DVD PLAYER I FOUND THAT THE MAIN BOARD HAD THE NUMBER 2700 INSTEAD OF THE 1700 MODEL THAT THE PLAYER IS SUPPOSED TO BE. I GOT IT FIXED BEFORE AND TOSHIBA GAVE IT BACK TO ME. I TRIED THE DISC BUT IT DIDN'T WORK, AND NOW IT SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO PLAY REGION 4 DVDS WHICH ITS WEIRD. MY ONLY CONCLUSION IS THAT IT MIGHT ALREADY PLAY OTHER REGIONS OTHER THEN 1. AS FOR PAL-NTSC THAT DOESN'T WORK CAUSE I HAD ANOTHER DISC AND IT WOULDN'T PLAY.
