This hack really work but: DVD's from 20th century fox won't work i don't know why. I have a region 2 HD-EP10 and i have a lot of Region 1 DVD's. Dreamworks and Columbia DVD's work without any problems.

Have Fun

Download and burn the iso from this link to a CD-R, put it in the HD-EP10 follow the onscreen instructions. You must be on official firmware 2.5 for the EP10. I'm not sure if it works with 2.7 already installed. Anyway, after the installation is complete your EP10 is region free for standard DVD's. But still somehow DVD's from Fox won't work maybe because of the RCA or strict R1 protection. You have to test this with you're favorite DVD's an see for yourself. Have fun.

RCE remote hack (tested on firmware v2.5)

1. Open the tray, put the RCE disc and leave tray open
2. On the remote, do T.Search 1 3 9 1 T.Search
3. Player should beep and "TEST" will be displayed on the LCD
4. Press Play

PostRegion code hack posted by OZREGIONFREE, February 19 2008:

My HD-EP10 is Region 4 (Australia) but is partially region free. It will play some Region 1 discs but not ones with RCE (2oth Century, some Paramount Etc)

A screen comes up stating,
THIS DISC IS NOT FORMATTED TO PLAY IN THIS REGION.

So I apply the RCE hack as follows:
1. Open the tray, put in disc BUT LEAVE TRAY OPEN
2. On the remote, press "T.Search"
3. Then "1" "3" "9"
4. Then key in number for region "1" USA or "2" UK and so on,
5. Then press "T.Search" again
6. Player should beep and "TEST" will be displayed on the LCD
7. Press Play - Disc should play

I am running verion 2.51 software. If someone getts this working on Version 2.7 or 2.8 software, let me know. I'm reluctant to upgrade since eveything is working so well.

Update to this list:

I have an EP-10 with firmware 2.8 installed and purchased in Australia which is zone 4.

I applied the hack as noted above and it works perfectly. You have to use it each time you insert that particular type of dvd as it does not remember the hack; however a small price to pay. Normally my EP-10 plays any zone for 1, 2 or 4, but certain 20th Century dvds from the USA won't play. They will now.
