Hi everybody, I yesterday tried to apply the current region hack for the model DTH 8550, and it worked. I do not know, at what point the hack worked, so I post the whole thing I did to my 8654 :) 1. open tray 2. go to menu 3. enter setup menu, highlight system options 4. Press 8 , 2 , 1 ,3 , 9 + OK 5. after pressing OK, the screen changed to the system options menu, with highlight on DIVX 6. As I was unsure, if it worked, I just repeated step 4 and pressed 8 , 2 , 1 ,3 , 9 + OK again 7. DTH 8654 played DVDs with normally unallowed code. Hope that helps Regards Werro | |||

I applied the hack posted above with the following corrections as it did not work the first time. 1. open tray 2. Use remote control "SetUp" button to enter setup "Setup menu" highlighted in green. 3. Press 8 , 2 , 1 , 3 , 9 , OK 5. after pressing OK, the screen changed to the system options menu, with highlight on DIVX 6. repeat step 3. Press 8 , 2 , 1 ,3 , 9 , OK again. Much the same as the above hack but do the following 7) Leave the dvd tray open with the none playable region code dvd in. 8) Press the remote "Exit Menu" to leave the menu. 9) Press the remote "Power" button to switch OFF the player. 10) Press the remote "Power" button to switch ON the player. 11) The player will close the tray with the new region code DVD and start to read the disc. The message Disc Problem will be replaced with reading disc and then it will start to play the movie. Note: My player was setup for region 2 and I used this hack to also play region 1 discs. | |||
