Firmware update: Push "Play/Pause" and "DVD Rec" on the dvd recorder a few seconds to see the service menu. There you can find your firmware version. The new one is v 5.20 (16. feb 06) Download it here: http://85.17.64.103/dl/b62cba5702b40461218e951e74 ... _V5.20.zip Just burn the "Thomson"-folder to a cdr and load in the dvd recorders main menu. | |||

DVD-R support Put a DVD-R in the tray. Export any recording from the internal Library to DISC and press OK. Wait patiently to the finish. Plays in a standard DVD player that refuses to play +R. Example: SAMSUNG DVD 205 will NOT read +R/+RW but smoothly reads -R made with Thomson DTH 8550E. This is really no hack, but it's not mentioned anywhwere in the User Manual. | |||

Factory reset 1. Open DVD tray and remove any disc that can be inside 2. Close DVD tray 3. While holding down the "STOP" key on the front panel, hold also down the "ON/STANDBY" key (front panel too) until INIT and then "INIT OK" is displayed on front panel display. 4.
