As per the RDR-HX750 hack, but I used the All for One 3440, and it went exactly as posted. One note, in the hack it says repeat steps 2 and 3. You need to repeat steps 1, 2 and 3. Am a happy man because now I can buy much cheaper US DVD's.

I had my Sony RDR-HX950 hacked using this method.

First your psp "phat" have to be install with IR Shell. Copy this RDF file into the ircode folder.

* Switch on recorder and point its own remote at it
* System Setup -> Initial Setup -> Options -> Command-Mode
* Select DVD1
* Switch the recorder to standby.
* Run IRshell, IR Remote View and select Sony Region.
* Press 'Cross', 'Circle', 'Triangle', 'Square', 'Up'.
* The recorder turn on with welcome message.
* Wait until you can access the recorder then continue.
* Press 'Cross', 'Circle', 'Triangle', 'Square', 'Up'.
* The recorder display will say "timer ok".

And you have hack it!

To check.
* Switch on the recorder
* System Setup -> Initial Setup -> Options -> Audio Out -> Dolby Digital Output -> Dolby Digital -> PCM.
* Press 'Angle" key.
* You will see Region 14 rather your original region.

Happy Region-free day!!!!!!!!!

I used the method described on the top by Alar on my RDR HX950 with
success, but it took me a long time to get it right. My experience with it may
save someone else some time.

Once I got the my PC set up to run the IRDA exe and was sure that it actually
sent a signal that the player actually recieved (took a while) it was difficult to
get it to work properly. All the guides on the method I read sead to do it
slower, pausing between buttons etc.

As a final resort to get it to work I did the opposite. And finally it worked. If
everything is set up and working properly the following is how it should work
on the HX950:

1) The player should be set to: Command-set DVD1 for remote
2) The player should be turned off (standby mode)
3) Using the programs and code files from www.selen.org, select and press
(as instructed) 1 (enter) 2 (enter) 3 (enter) 4 (enter) 5 (enter)
4) The player will now start up as though turned on by the regular remote,
displaying "WELCOME" in the display.
5) HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART. While it still displays the "WELCOME"
message, you have to repeat step 3. You will need to do this very quickly!
6) If you are quick enough and successful, the display will now show "TIMER
OK" and power down.
7) If it just displays "POWER OFF" then start over again, until you get it.
Patience and speed are key here!

Good luck :)
