Hi folks, After reading different threads on this board, I became active - now my player is region-free, THANX! I just bought the cheapest All-in-One in the store: a URC 3450 for 9,99 EU, equipped with a "Magic Button". Back home I put my recorder in the HD modus (not DVD). To put it into the HD modus just push the HD button on your recorder (not your remote). First change the command mode of your sony recorder to DVD1 and also change your remote. Default is DVD3 (refer to manual if necessary). Prepare your remote: 1. press DVD 2. press Magic Button and hold until LED blinks twice 3. press 0533 (only for the commande mode DVD1) The IR blinks twice and you can now control the recorder with this remote Prepare the buttons 1 to 5 (key magic) 1. press the Magic Button and hold until LED blinks twice 2. press 994 (LED blinks twice) 3. press DVD 4. Press only once and short on Magic Button 5. press 001891 (button 1) Repeat this procedure for 002552 (button 2), 000953 (button 3), 002214 (button 4) and 000795 (button 5). Reprogram your dvd recorder: 1. remove the disc and put the player on standby 2. press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, with a brief pause between each button and make sure LED of the remote flashes - the player should turn on and TIMER OK displays. 3. now press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 again - the player should go back to Standby 4. start player again - voila, it's region-free! Should you encounter problems, please refer to to the instructions for the sony rdr hx710 and hx650, there are some alternatives listed that should help. I'd like to thank everybody who spent time on finding a hack, you made me very happy! Now I'll return that cheap remote, there's no way to sensibly handle the sony rdrhx680 with it... | |||
