I have just used a URC-8206 using the same Procedure as the RDR-HX710 Needs to be on DVD command 1 it may take a couple of attemtps but persist it will work give it couple of seconds between pressing the keys in sequence | |||

Okay the definative PDA method for this unit... You will need a PDA with Pocket PC installed - I used a Dell Axim. IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE THE DVD COMMAND MODE IS SET TO 'DVD1' (in the system setup menu) AND YOUR DVD RECORDER IS IN STANDBY MODE WHEN YOU DO THIS. 1) Download the evaluation version of TV remote controller from http://www.pdawin.com/tvremote.html, and install it on your PDA - I used ActiveSync to do this. 2) Download this file: http://www.xs4all.nl/~pbonnet/sony.zip, and extract it to your PDA 3) Open TVRemote Controller on your PDA, and load the .ccf file using the on-screen instructions. 4) You will be presented with 5 buttons - these MAY be numbered, they may not. In my case, they were not. 5) Moving from left to right in order, press each button twice whilst pointing your PDA at your DVD recorder (i.e. 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5. The recorder will power up and you will get the TIMER OK message. Then press the buttons in exactly the same way again and it will go back in standby mode. 6) Unplug your DVD recorder, then after 30 seconds or so, plug it back in again. Congratulations - your DVD recorder is now multiregion!! If you don't have a PDA, borrow one - this method is so easy! | |||
