I tried the hack from Robert on my DVP-PQ2 (belgium) with the remote control OneForAll Kameleon and it's WORKS perfectly :) Now i can play my Disney Treasures DVDs.

Here is the cut and paste from http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Sony%20DVP-NS405

*Region code hack posted by Robert, January 10 2004:*

This hack appears to apply to all the dvp-ns### players, so far confirmed on the ns705 ns305 and ns330 region 4. I have gotten this information from here: http://regionfreedvd.net/player/sony.html . There is a lot more information on that page about region freeing sony players.
Many people do not have palm pilots which are needed for the most common way of region freeing Sony players, so this is a way of doing the same thing using the One4All Kameleon remote control for those of you who have it. It may work with other allinone remote controls, but you're on your own.

AND HERE IS A VERSION FOR THE One4All:

I used oneforall kameleon remote to make my ns705 region free. Just follow these steps:

Prepare (this makes sure your remote is configured for your sony DVD player):
1. select dvd device on remote
2. hold magic button until rabbit comes out
3. enter device code 0533

Now we need to program buttons 1..5 (you may want to use the buttons with roman numbers at the bottom of the remote, and use another button for V, which doesn't exist) with the following codes, read below for instructions:
1 - 189
2 - 255
3 - 095
4 - 221
5 - 079

This is how you program those numbers:
1. Hold magic button until rabbit comes out.
2. Press 994.
3. Press magic (don't hold).
4. Enter 3 digit code from above.
5. Press button (1..5) where to program it.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys.

That works, but more information on macros is included in the one4all manual for you particular model.

Have a go:
1. Remove disk, put player on standby.
2. Press 1,2,3,4,5 - SUCCESS is displayed and player starts up.
3. Press 1,2,3,4,5 - player shuts down and BINGO!

Should work for most of the dvp-ns### players.

I tried the IRDA hack using a laptop mentioned elsewhere, but had no joy with that (the key presses are very unreliable, which is probably why there aren't more IRDA-remote programs for PCs).

However, the hack mentioned here by Kikou did eventually work fine. I've only got the cheaper One4All 4 Digital (there's no mention of macros or rabbits in the manual!) but it still worked. I actually followed the instructions at http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Sony%20DVP-NS405

Note that you don't get a 'SUCCESS' message with this player, the only way to tell if it's worked is to try a different region disc.

If you don't already have a One4All, remember Argos offer a 14 day, no questions asked money back guarantee ;)
