Maybe Sony DVP-NS57P is not hackable. I bought a Sony DVP-NS57P (region 1) by thinking that it could be hackable for region-free because some online shops are selling Sony DVP-NS57P all-region machines. I tried the instructions described under “Sony DVP-NS575P (575 instead of 57p)”. I was able to reach the system menu by applying the button sequence from the Sony remote. I also followed the instruction to enter correct numbers into “input count” and “current count” and the Sony LCD displayed “0” as described. When I tested it with region 3 DVDs, it could not play. I tried all similar instructions that I could find online, but none of them worked. I also tried the computer IR software method posted by Eduardo - Argentina, April 26 2005, http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/sony-dvp-ns575p/4043. It did not worked for this model. My wife wants to keep this Sony in her musical room because the sound quality of playing her music CD is obviously higher than my up-stair Philips DVP-5982 when connecting to the same receiver and speakers. I bought another player, Toshiba SDK-990, for her to play non-region 1 DVDs. I also follow VideoHelp.com instructions for this Toshiba. This one was easily unlocked for region-free viewing. Sound quality is still better than my Philips, but not as good as Sony. | |||
