This works with a Pronto remote, use ProntoEdit for the codes... - Program individual hex-code (below) into five chosen buttons - Put your DVD-player to standby mode (main power on and red light above it) - Push programmed buttons sequentially from one to five (the player starts up) - Do it again: Push programmed buttons sequentially from one to five (the player goes back to standby) The player should now be multiregion! The previous hack works but it took some figuring out. Used a sony CLIE and omniremote software. The software can be obtained from the following URL:- http://www.pacificneotek.com/software/OmniRemote.zip Any palm pilot will do. Create a new section for the DVD player and create 5 buttons. Train the CLIE to recognise the buttons to be numbers 1 -> 5. Use the advanced->databases [export category] to export the data to memopad. Sync you palm and paste the data into memo pad form. It'possible with Pocket PC2002.You also need "TV remote controller 5.2"( www.pdawin.com ) and the ProntoEdit software (can be found at http://www.smarthomeusa.com/pronto/pronto_edit_tsu2000.htm ). The clue is that you can import CCF-files(Pronto files) in de "TV remote controller 5.2" software. So I made a CCF-file, using the known hex-infrared code, with the ProntoEdit program and then imported it in the "TV Remote" software. -Program 5 buttons with the code posted by hammer. -Power on the player. -Push 1122334455 (the player power off) -Push 1122334455 (the player power on and show success) My player is now regionfree ! But I have and TV that isn't compatible with NTSC (B/W) GGGRRRRRRR ! :-) | |||

I got the hack to work with a Palm Vx. However, there are two suggestions I'd give. First, after syncing the Palm, use the Memo Pad to edit the data. For some reason I got extra spaces after every line. Make sure the cursor sits against the last character in each line and that there are no added line feeds at the end of the data. Second, add a sixth button for on-off. By using another button, you can guage the distance for successful reception of the codes. After removing the extra spaces and line feeds, and getting the correct distance, the hack worked. | |||

For PocketPC/WinCE users: The Philips Pronto site has a new implementation, so to get the Pronto-edit tool you now have to register at http://www.pronto.philips.com and download it. It is free though (and you dont need a Pronto to be able to register), and the Shareware version of TV remote controller from pdawin.com is good enough too.. Worked like a charm here.. | |||

One for All Remote control. I've just managed to make region free my Sony DVP-NC615 using a one for all remote, Using the code sequences listed above, translated into EFC codes for the one for all. The first hack posted by Hammer can also be performed using a Marantz RC5000 remote. (Philips Pronto clone) I had to program the hex codes by hacking the CCF file with a Hex Editor. Have tried on a region 2 DVPNS405 and DVPNS300 - both worked ! | |||

Hmm my iPAQ 1940 hangs when trying to press the remote buttons in TV remote controller 5.5 with the ccf posted here earlier, I tried making one myself as well with the same result.. stupid bluetooth crap gets in the way I think. | |||

Just like to say thank you to everyone on here for your help :D I ended up using the palm hack on the second tutorial/post, it took me ages and ages to get it working. I created 5 buttons and changed the HEX pushed the buttons in order, nothing, tried about 10 times...nothing. I then downloaded the DVD Hack for the OmniRemote, that just crashed my Palm. so I exported the database, changed the HEX codes to the ones given in the second tutorial/post again and tried it. (i have no idea if this is the reason it worked or not, its just what i did and it seemed to work) I pushed the buttons in order, so it turned on and off. Did that about 5 times and then it came up with SUCCESS!i pushed the buttons 11,22,33,44,55 to turn it off. turned it on manually and it worked fine! I have a Sony DVP-NS405, Using a Tungsten T5 Palm Top and the OmniRemote software. Thanks again to everyone!! | |||

Confirmed working with a DVP-NS36 from Germany , region 2 www.selen.org/sonydvd.html Used the laptop IRDA port on a Compaq Armada E500. I needed to launch the "winsamp C3" after booting to Windows Me and opening a DOS console. Press the 'r' key to load up the remote.txt codes into winsamp. I did the 1-5 sequence around 4 times in a row until the player showed Success on the display. | |||
