	The same hack works perfectly as this hack for DVP-NS405. My DVP-NS400D is bought in September 2001 and its test menu still says "region 2" after the remote hack, but I played region 1 movies without problems. I used Palm IIIxe.

	This hack worked for me on DVP-NS400D remember to repeat it twice. ie make sure the DVD is on standby then enter on your Omniremote DVD 1.2.3.4.5 and turn on and off with the hardwear switch You can now switch the player on by using its own remote control and play region 1 DVD's

DVD-player Sony DVP-NS400D r1/r3/r2-Japan don,t have solderless upgrade (Example: PDA, DESKTOP, IRC, CD - R and etc....) in variant MULTIREGION, and NTSC and PAL-enable, and Macrovision OFF. The modification of this player is done only through special Sony-Data-service-cable and special firm software through plugs On main-board (plug CN-103) and on IR-board (plug CN-405). P.S.: NOTE - Besides, on main-board of this player it is necessary to install additional Components for Pal-enable. Best regards Fred

	Please note that to enter the codes with the latest Oneforall or remotes with a Magic key the codes have to be entered in a 5 digit format - this means filling in the leading zeroes (ie 00189, 00255, 00095, 00221, 00079). It then works fine (tested on 3 machines)

	This is all I have for SONY. Good Luck! Sony Please note:- People have being reporting that these Sony hacks don't work. These instructions come from a sheet supplied by vendors that sell pre-chipped players. They then add these extra features to the firmware. A plain unmodified player will not respond to these button press combinations. For more information try Norway based company www.tronika.co.no. If you go to the Sony DVD player section you can either buy a pre-modded player or DIY kit. The only way to make your player multi-region is to either modify the player yourself (not recommended if you are not handy with a soldering iron) or get your hands on a Sony DVD service remote which you may be able to rent for about £40. Sony DVP-NS400D multi region hack with One For All remote. I'm posting to confirm a hack for this model after trying numerous other techniques and spending hours reading different forums and advice. Don't bother with the Sony DVD remote or an iPaq rx1950! Apart from the time spent going to Argos. This hack took a few minutes and now I can watch region 4 DVDs on my region 2 Sony DVP-NS400D in the UK. I bought the One For All URC 7557 remote, which I can return immediately as it is not needed now. (Apparently many others work but this was the cheapest available). http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/ ... REMOTE.htm And used this technique- Prepare: 1. Select dvd device on remote. 2. Hold magic button. until it blinks twice 3. Enter device code 0533 Program buttons 1 to 5 with the following codes: 1 - 00189 2 - 00255 3 - 00095 4 - 00221 5 - 00079 1. Hold magic button. until it blinks twice 2. Press 994 (this is the code to program each of the keys) 3. Press magic once 4. Enter 3 digit code from above 5. Press button number where to program it, see above, the remote will blink twice 6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys Apply: 1. Remove any DVD from the DVD Player, put player on standby. 2. Press 1,2,3,4,5 - and player comes out of standby mode. 3. press 1,2,3,4,5 - player shuts down back into stand by mode.
