First, I tried the infrared hack using laptop and winamp software with no luck. Next I tried the PDA hack and the tvremote software again with no luck again. The hack with the use of Omniremote software and a palm though, worked perfectly. Although it is mentioned in more than one place I repeat the hack to help avoid confusion and useless Internet searches… Prerequisites: 1. A palm device. Anyone will do. I used a very old handspring visor. 2. An evaluation version of Omniremote software from http://www.pacificneotek.com/. Process: 1. Open the OmniRemote application and create a new section for the DVD player. 2. Create 5 buttons. Number and label the buttons 1 -> 5. 3. Use the advanced->databases [export category] to export the data to memopad. 4. Sync the palm and paste the data into memo pad form. 5. Re-sync the palm 7. Do the opposite action and use advanced->databases [import category] and import the updated configuration file. 8. As a good test and to simplify the process create one more button for power on-off. Create the button and use the learning function to copy it from your regular remote control. 9. With the DVD player in standby and no disc in the tray press button 1 -> 5 twice in turn. (1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5) If it has worked the DVD player will switch on and show "SUCCESS" on the display. Then press the power button once more and the hack is done. My European region 2 player can now successfully play my favourite region 1 disks! | |||
