To get to the service menu, turn it to DVD mode (no disc inside), press EJECT+STOP (on the actual player, not the remote) and turn the volume knob all the way up to max (and even further). The screen will go black, and will come back in service mode. Probably not too wise to fidle around in here unless you know what you are doing.. it could render your dvd player useless.. | |||

Modificatet Region code hack for DAV-DZ810W. First posted for C770 by Karsten Thomsen at August 03 2003: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks.php?dvdplayer=Sony+DAV-s888 At this link you'll find this description worked from Karsten: This guide shows you how to make the update with a regular PC equipped with an IRDA port. 1. Download the winsamp -package http://www.veg.nildram.co.uk/remote13.zip This innovative piece of software allows you to send standard home electronics IR signals using a PC IRDA port. 2. Extract the package onto a bootable DOS floppy disk. 3. Download this IR code file and place it in the same directory as the package above. This file holds the five necessary IR codes converted to the format used by winsamp.exe. http://www.selen.org/files/REMOTE.TXT If the file unaviable use the code below: 4. Boot up your PC from the floppy disk and run winsamp.exe. If you have a Notebook, may change the IR Mode in BIOS to SIR If your IRDA port doesn't appear as COM2 you may override this by using an appropriate command line switch. For example, use COM1 by running 'winsamp C1'. 5. Press the 'r' key to load up the codes into winsamp. 6. Turn on the Player. 7.
