Hack found for the Sony DAV-D150 dvd/vcr/surround sound system. You need a cdr to make this machine multi-region. I have tested the cdr on my own machine which now also plays region 1 dvds. I'm selling them on ebay. Search for 'Sony DAV-D150'.

Someone else has tried the cdr and it also works for the DAV-SB100.

I have the Sony DAV-D150 and just applied the following, and it worked perfectly. If you have a CD burner there's no need to send money to anyone or even pay for postage. The hack was posted by john1247 on Jan 16 2005 at www.videohelp.com: Create a directory called RMTM0000 which has a subdirectory SCARLET. File KPJC19_1.DVD goes to directory SCARLET. KPJC19_1.DVD is a 4 byte file which you can create with a hex editor, set the bytes to 17 17 8C 00 or you can download the file from http://www.math.uga.edu/~djb/html/kpjc19_1.dvd Burn the directory containing the file KPJC19_1.DVD on a CD-R. Use the ISO-9660 format. Insert the CD-R to DVD player. Press 0 and Enter to enable the multi-region. This apparently also works for DAV-SB100 and DVP-M50 |
