This is not a complete hack, but I've been able to make some progress on path to free this player from region shackles. I'd like to share this info, so someone (more lucky than me) would be able to sort this out. I own a manufacterer refurbished MM-D470D player purchased in U.S.(region 1). This is my routine to play DVDs from region 2: 1) With player turned off, no CD/DVD inside and connected to TV - turn the player on and wait until the TV shows the player menu. "No disc" should be shown in the top-left corner of the player menu. 2) Using remote, proceed to Settings menu (rightmost option in the player menu on TV). 3) Using remote, enter the following code "84269". 4) The following text should be shown on TV screen: "SERVICE MODE : ON". 5) Now, return to the main player menu and insert your DVD (other than region 1, obviously). 6) The DVD should start loading, but the player will eject it afterwards and show a message saying it cannot play it. 7) Ignore the message, press OK on your remote to discard it and put the DVD inside the player again. This time, the DVD should start playing. If not, repeat the procedure of discarding the message and inserting the DVD into the player if it is ejected. This setting is not permanent, unfortunatelly, and you have to do it each time you power on the player. I think the "SERVICE MENU : ON" is quite promissing, but I was not able to make any progress further. Good luck ;) |
