This worked on my Australian Region 4 Samsung DVD-R155, and I must say thanks to rvilanova for posting the codes for the different regions without them I would still be pressing the wrong numbers, thanks again rvilanova. This is a follow up from my last post, reading about region 1 players I made my player region 1, tring the region 1 hack I got nothing on the screen like other people have said here, I thought i've done it now im stuck with a region 1 player, then I remembered there is a firmware update on samsungs site http://www.samsung.com/au/products/dvdrecorder/dvdrecorder/dvd_r155.asp I downloaded the firmware burnt it to a rewritable cd and flashed the player. It worked the player was now a region 4 player again so I recoded the player to a region free with the instructions I wrote in my previous post. Now if it worked for me it may work on a region 1 player, I hope this helps the people with a region 1 player. If it does post a message so other people know. | |||

Samsung DVD - R155 Region Free Hack (Thailand works fine) 1. Turn On DVD, make sure no disc in tray. 2. Press "Subtitle" button from Remote Control. 3. Enter "567329" from Remote Control. 4. Press "Disc Open", "Disc Close" and Turn Of Power. That's it. Remark for other Samsung Model could work same way but if it does not response; try "Repeat" button instead of "Sub" the rest remain unchange. Good luck. | |||

I had the same issue of setting it to Region 1 from 4, and it got stuck on Region 1. I downloaded the firmware upgrade from Samsung using the link provided, and burned it to a rewriteable CD. However, when I put it into the player, it tells me that it cannot play the disk. Anyone got any ideas on how I can re-flash the DVD player? | |||

Hate to ask a question here but I have been looking on the site for an hour and still can't find the answer. Did not where where else to post it that someone might actually look at. I have a US Version I bought it in the U.S. - if it is a different version where do I look to see where its from I have tried all the codes, downloaded the firmware, but the disk will not read. At no time does any number or region number pop up on my screen in the menu setting. Has anyone found a way to bypass the write protected setting on this version yet? Thanks | |||

I live in Brazil, RC 4. I bought the DVD-R155 this week(March 10th, 2008) and I acted exactly like mentioned bay capps55. It worked perfectly. After the procedure I've played some RC4 movies and other RC1 ones with no troubles. I'd like to describe again with some notes that may casually be useful: a)Do not insert any disk in the equipment during this procedure. b)The DVD-R155 must be connected to your TV set. c)Switch your TV to the entry where the DVD-R155 is connected(like when you watch a DVD). This is necessary because you'll see the needed information in the TV screen, not in the DVD-R155 display. After that... 1. Turn Player On Press the Menu button on your remote control 2. Press 7, 6, 8, 8, 4 buttons on your remote control(NOTICE: If your RC is different from 4, the number sequence is different: see the correct sequence below). 3. The currently selected region will be indicated on the TV - in the upper right corner. 4. Press quickly the 9 button before your region code disappears, in order to switch the DVD-R155 to region-free. Remember: you must be quick. (in the step 4 you could press button 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2 and so on, but I believe you want to have your equipment region-free, don't you?) Ok guys here's a thought to all US buyers. Go to sumsung.com/au and find the firmware on support to get the update and convert the US to region 4 with the firmware...then use the codes on here to get region free? Gonna try it...wish me luck | |||

Samsung may have negated this hack through one of their firmware updates. I recently updated the firmware to v.8, then tried this hack, and could never get it to work. I tried every different method that I could find for this hack, with no success. I powered the unit on, pressed Menu, then input the code for Region 1 (29334). I tried this at least five times. I could never see the region number in the top right corner, as many people have stated. I was not able to try other hacks because my remote does not have a Repeat button. | |||

I live in Brazil, which the RC is 4. I also applied the hack for the R155 model on my R150 model, accordingly described by fabiocese on March 13, 2008, and it worked as a breeze. But keep in mind: you must be as fast as you can when pressing the control keys. Good luck, chaps. | |||

about the Region 1 ... I read in other foruns that Samsung got sued in the USA, and ALL the DVD's (blu ray's) Region 1 are not possible to be unlocked anymore. I got a DVD-R155 in the US (Region 1) and since march 08 I've been trying to make it free region without success... Does anyone who has a region 1 (original) had success on this issue ?! tx | |||

I leave in Bulgaria - Region 2. Did exactly as described bellow - worked like a charm! The only difference was that after I have inputed the code for region 2 (5, 7, 5, 3, 8) the info about the region has appear in the upper LEFT corner....:) One more thing - any ideas how to record NTSC to my DVD R-155? Hi Stuck on a Region?? Try this. I live in the UK (region 2) and probably like a lot of people managed to lock my dvd to region 1. And have pulled my hair out trying to find a fix. None of the codes on here work (excpet to lock it up). The firmware update didnt work either. Try resetting the player. Make sure there are no discs in. On the front of the player (not handset) press and hold the PROG UP & DOWN buttons and keep them pressed in. After several seconds it will bring up a message. This should then reset the player. The reset link is here. Though it says for the dvd r155 hold the input sel & rec mode buttons?? on the front of the player??? this is incorrect (Well it is on mine). I hope this works.
