Finally I've been able to hack a Region 4 Samsung DVD 1080P8 using a combination of information from different forums. Here it is: Turn on the player. Open tray. Make sure there is no disc. Press "INFO". The firmware number will appear. Close tray. Wait until "no disc" appears. Press "INFO" again. the "no disc" sign will disappear. Press 7-6-8-8-4. the number "4" will appear on the upper left corner. Press 9 and that number will replace the 4. Press "Repeat". Turn off the player. Turn it on and it will now read any region disc. Enjoy watching! For other region players, please replace 76884 with the one corresponding for your region found in the 1080P7 thread. | |||

I've tried the hack posted above on a R4 player (as the example suggested)and there's no way after entering the numbers: no region code appears onscreen and pressing 9 has no effect. I've tried succesfully many other remote hacks and they work the very first time. Isn't it maybe that there's something missing here? Thanx a lot for the hack, but we've got to make it work. I also found the same instructions, and they also do NOT work for my region 1 1080p8 (with the code adjusted, of course), for region 1 it is, supposedly, 29334. | |||

Use remote control for this: 1. Make sure there is no dvd in the player 2. Turn player off and then on again 3. Press eject to open the tray 4. Press eject to close the tray again 5. Press REPEAT 6. Enter 575389 7. Press REPEAT | |||

I've found this hack somewhere on the internet, it works for my R2 player. 1) Turn on the player with no disc in the tray 2) Press the Open/Close button to open the tray 3) Press the info button, the firmware version shows up (mine was 080220.13.B.1080PXKEG) 4) After the version info disappears, close the tray again by pressing the Open/Close button 5) At this point, it will show "no disc" at the top. Press the Info button again, and this will disappear. 6) Now type the code that applies for your region (R2 is 57538). A '2' will briefly show up at the top left corner 7) Now press 9, and 9 will show up in the top left corner 8) Power off the player, and turn it on again. You'll have a multi region player I've found the following codes at the 1080P7 hack: R1 - 29334 R2 - 57538 R3 - 56732 R4 - 76884 R5 - 53814 R6 - 24462 Not sure if all are correct, but it worked for R2. | |||

I have tried the above hacks and some other... seems the main problem is I cannot punsh in any numbers as I get the slashed circle in the top right corner for most inputs. The NO DISC messege does not go out, not by itself, not by pressing INFO, REPEAT, or REPEAT A-B... I have tried to do the steps and 'force' different number comboes in I have found but nothing. It seems one have to 'open up' the DVD player to be receptive for inputs... you hackers better get working! ;o) Especially you Region 1 guys as the UK (Region 2) hack has been out there for over a year! All hacks I have found for the 1080P8 Region 1 does not work! =o( | |||

I had the same problem with region code of 1. None of these scripts posted here and other internet did never work. Now I did it today. I used the script that 'Silver Surfers' posted for DVD-HD860. 1. OFF/ON your DVD 2. Open the tray 3. Press 'INFO', you'll see version code 4. Press '9' repeatedly untill you see '9' overlapped with the version code 5. OFF/ON and enjoy! I didn't expect it would work so I pressed like crazy and I recognized '9' appeared. I don't know how many times and pressed. I did never try it again. | |||

Just bought a Samsung 1080P8 today (28 April 2009), Firmware 080422.19.B, R2. Hack with code 57538 worked fine, just needed to sit near the player with the remote and be VERY careful of the keys pressed, but it worked on the 3rd try. Cheers!! Paul | |||

I'm in Australia (Region 4). I have tried everything suggested here, several times, but I can't get the "noDISC" to go away and nothing appears on my TV except the SAMSUNG logo, only on the DVD box screen itself shows "noDISC", and there's definitely no firmware number or anything else! It would be really helpful if someone could give me further advice. | |||

I confirm that the method works with R3 1080P8 as well (I just purchased it, so probably latest firmware). I had to key in the code 4-5 times before I was successful. However, my successful attempt came after I switched off the mains power and retried again -> so my conclusion is that after unsuccessful attempt, you have to switch off mains power before trying again. | |||
