This is the ultimate DVD player hack. A standard IDE hard drive can be connected to the Sampo DV620 and DV631CF as a slave device to the the DVD drive. This allows playback of MP3, JPEG, and MPEG files stored on the hard drive. This ability is provided by the firmware interface for the CompactFlash card reader built in to the DV631CF. The CF reader is simply replaced by an IDE hard drive and the player recognizes it. The DV620 can be flashed with the DV631CF firmware to enable hard drive support on the DV620.
