To make it all regions, Macrovision & Parental control 1.open the tray- press set up 2.press the next key 3.press the prev key 4.press the next key 5.press the prev key ver 255 = region free ver 1= region 1 ver 2= region 2 press left and right to change And so on........ press down key once: ver 3001=parental control enable ver 3000=parental control disable press left or right key to change press down twice: ver 4001= macrovision enable ver 4000= macrovision disable press left or right key to change press down key three times ver 5001= vcd and svcd disable ver 5000= vcd and svcd enable change to ver 5000 to play vcds or svcds ENJOY! | |||

Region Code / VCD Hack: Check the software version in the setup menu. If it's E1-XQ-M, it will react on Lenco DVD-12 codes. If it's M-XQ-M, it will react on Lenco DVD-14 codes. If it's something else, just try both. | |||

Hack for activating (S)VCD on a Provision PRDVD2166 with setup version M-XQ-M (found in SETUP menu). I've read the 1 1 0 code hack in this forum and tried it on my own DVD-player. Indeed it displays ON. But it does activate the (S)VCD function on the player! After entering the code - exit the SETUP menu and power off the player. When powering on the DVD player the hack works! I can play my own written (S)VCD discs without any problem! Greetz, C.B. | |||

The Provision PRDVD2166 also goes by the name of Slimline-2 and is currently available from Superdrug in the UK. Having tested all hacks on this page for this particular model I can confirm that the hack provided by SAL on November 6 works! I used the setup 110 hack for displaying VCD-movies. It worked fine. Just use the hack one time then turn the power of and on and play your movie. Enjoy the movie Jurjen from the netherlands | |||

Bought a DVD172 at Blokker, the netherlands for 57 euro. Riz Man's hack works. Just to clarify: 1.open the tray- 2.press set up 3.press the next key 4.press the prev key 5.press the next key 6.press the prev key (the little blue keys labeled prev and next, not the big arrow keys!) You will then see either ver 255 (Region free) on the screen or, as with my unit, ver2 (region 2). press left and right to change (yes, the big arrow keys this time) | |||

Provison DVDPR172 [Blokker,NL. Eur 57,00] My experiences: the mentioned hack with next, prev, next, prev on the remote control didn't work at first in my case, until I found out that you have to press the next, prev, next, prev using the buttons on the dvd player itself and not on the remote control. In the upperright corner appeared "ver 2", which could easily chaged to 255 using the "right"cursor key on the remote control. Press the "down"cursor key on the remote control and you get the parental control code, once more "down" results in macrovision, and once moer the "downçursor key results in the possibility of changing to vcd and svcd enable. Finally power off and power on and it works great. | |||

beste peepZ ik heb die Provision van Blokker maar niet de slimline maar die met dolby 5.0 is het daarop ook mogelijk om vcd aftespelen? als ik namelijk het laatje open zet en dan op setup druk en dan 110 op mijn afstandsbediening dan krijg ik iets onleesbaars in beeld als ik gewoon met het laadje dicht en niet op setup op 110 komt er te staan NO VCD weet iemand wat ik fout doe? groetjes Michel | |||

Got a Provision 172. The codes the shop (Blokker) provided me with, didn't do the trick to get it play dvd's from all regions. I tried allmost all the tricks mentioned and the one that allmost worked was the "prev next prev next", but at the end (after changing all the settings) the dvd-player asks for a password ! Anyone ? I've an DVD player(lenco -14), and i just entered setup, then playing with password setup. After i retrun from setup everything is messed. Now, as i play any DVD the sound is comming but the picture is not comming...... Also, i can't get to setup now...... any help to solve out the problemmmmm thanks | |||
