I bought the 8 inch player from Sams club for $149.00 com plete with all accesories including a case. Model is Polaroid PDM 0082. First I did not believe that the hacking was simple by inputting 1379 consecutively. When I was in the store, there was a Chinese guy with the help of a customer service was trying his foreign DVD. The DVD could only be played on audiovox D1812PK (which I know from literature and their website can play both PAL NTSC) and Polaroid PDM 0082. I saw that the Polaroid played it as well. I then bought this Polaroid hoping that it will read other region DVD. I have several PAL VCDs which can be only be played on my multysystem Pioneer DV383K when I set it to PAL. They will not play properly in NTSC setting. I tried those PAL VCDs on this Polaroid...they were played well. It woould be good to try other region DVDs. But how to hack it, I confirmed by using 1379 code in preference menu after reading some comments on this webstite as well as other...see link below. http://www.shira.net/tech-portabledvd.htm How to change region code; Make sure there's not a DVD in the machine. Power the machine on. Using the remote, press the setup button. Use the right-arrow key to move to the "Preferences" menu. Press these numeric keys on the remote in this exact order: 1379 The machine should display the current region.
