I did the following on my dv-c503 pioneer: 1) turn it on without any dvd inside. 2) on the remote control, I push a) setup b) went all the way to the last tab on the right c) make sure that the video is saying basic 3) push display. It will show you the region and your firmware version. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to change my region, but it was the closest I was able to get it. I hope some one will be able to figure it out. Some Pioneer version alowed you to change your region by pushing a region that you want, but it didn't work for me. | |||

Region Code Change After Software or Firmware Modification: Hi, I'm live in Argentina and have Buyed a Pioneer DV-C503 player Region 1 on december 2000, I take the player to Store for Region Hack (they send the motherboard inside the player to USA for this job) and after waiting 2 months, they player is Region Free. I have played movies region 1, 2 and 4 without any problem! But there is a tip: As M.Martins says, the player show the region code with the remote and give the posibility to change, I set it to 4 that is my region, I have played region 1 movies perfect but some titles region 1 (007 Tomorrow Never Dies for example) requires that the player is configured on region 1 so I change the region with the control, to do this following these steps (all buttons on the remote control): 1) Turn on whitout any DVD inside. 2) push setup button. 3) go to general tab. 4) set the "Setup menu Mode" to Basic and leave the window that show "expert" and "basic" options open. 5) press Display to see the actual region number. 6) press CONDITION MEMORY and then the Region number do you want to set. 7) press Display again to verify that the region have been set.
