This firmware will work on the DV-49AV, the US version. All you have to do is replace the YJC with YJF before you burn the firmware file to CD. If you go to http://www.pioneerfaq.info/index.php?question=Firmwares, you'll notice that Hakan finally added his features to YJC8919A (CP1252, Version 2.0). However, he has "!!Contributors!!" under that. This leads me to believe that he's having trouble keeping the site up and needs our help via PayPal donations. Such donations can be sent to support@pioneerfaq.info. Once you donate, request the English edition of the enhanced version of YJC8919A (Version 2.0) and he will send you an e-mail with a link to the firmware file. | |||

For those of you who own a DV-49AV and installed DV-610AV firmware on it and lost the remote functions for FL DIMMER, HDMI COLOR, HDMI +, and HDMI - and wish you could get your DV-49AV firmware back again, a factory version and a multi-region version of the DV-49AV firmware are finally available at http://www.pioneerfaq.info/index.php?question=Firmwares . 1. Download the YJF8901A zip files. 2. Extract them. 3. If you have YJC8919A installed on your DV-49AV, you must change YJF8901A to YJC8901A so your player will recognize the firmware file. If you never installed DV-610AV firmware on your DV-49AV, you do not need to renaim the files. 4. A. If you want your DV-49AV functionality restored and you have renamed YJF8901A to YJC8901A, burn the factory version and the multi-region version on to separate CDs, with each CD having a volume label of PIONEER. B. If you still have factory DV-49AV firmware installed and you'd like to add multi-region capability, burn both versions of YJF8901A to separate CDs, each CD with PIONEER as its volume label. 5. Load one of the CDs in the player. 6. Press th play button on the front of the player as soon as you see the update screen. 7. When the tray opens, take out the CD. Do not press any buttons on the player or remote. Do not disrupt the power either. 8. A. If you have installed factory firmware, as soon as the tray closes and you see the red Pioneer logo, make all your prefered settings and you're good to go! B. If you have installed the multi-region version, wait until the tray closes and you see the red Pioneer logo. Using the remote, press and hold the ENTER button next to the 0 until the player turns off. Then turn the player on, make all your prefered settings, and you are good to go! | |||

Instead of upgrading firmware can make region free using infrared. Any infrared LED transmitter will work instead of building the one in the diagram Shiro shows for Pioneer dv-354. Even easier to use a USB version of IR LED to send the signal. Details are covered in comments for Pioneer dv-434 (Jack T) and for Pioneer dv-410, and Pioneer 454 (Bernie, Knut). Used Winlirc 0.9, the lircd.conf file (also works with pioneer.cf file), and IRdroid to make Pioneer 610 region free. | |||
