The same hack as "Region code hack posted by Zaphod at October 30 2002: for 454" IS WORKING FOR 47Ai!!!
Just pay attention, that your Palm OS device will change the code - don't worry about it. Need to send the command like 10-20 times from the distance not less then 1 m (I was moving Palm around the player while sending commands) and it works! Hack is great - zone is not 0, it is like zone of the last played DVD!
Thanks again Zaphod for the GREAT hack!

Any idea if this works for the Marantz DV8300 too? As it's built on the same base as the DV-45A.

PostRegion code hack posted by Gordon McGregor, July 04 2003:

No way this hack works for 45A or for 47A - only for x5x players ...

PostOther hack posted by Joe Young, July 18 2003:

One question to Gordon:

Which one is true?
(1) Does 454 hack work for 47Ai, but NOT for 47A and 45A?

Or

(2) Is Your first posting on 47Ai wrong?

I'm a little confused by conflicting postings.

PostRegion code hack posted by Gordon McGregor, July 19 2003:

Well, the posted hack is working for 47Ai, because it is x5x series player. 45A or 47A are different models, for example 47A is x4x series and equal to 747A European version and it requires hardware hack (small chip). I have no information about 45A, but I guess it is equal to 737 European model.

this works only on PAL dvd players or it also works on NTSC?

PostRegion code hack posted by rggrgg, May 02 2004:

I tried this on a NTSC 47ai, purchased in the US. Put the codes into my Philips Pronto remote, worked perfectly. (I think on the second or third press of the remote.) Many thanks

Hi DV-47Ai owners,
I have used the Region code hack posted by Peter on January 13 2003 and after some editing on the memo, I have managed to completely and successfuly unlock my former Region 1 DV-47Ai. It is now a Regionfree player.
See below the steps a have taken:
1 - Downloaded the Omniremote PRO from Pacificneotek.com to the Palm OS;
2 - Imported the memo below from Peter to the memo pad on my PDA (a Palm Tungsten E with OS 5.2.1);
3 - Patiently edited the memo and removed all spaces in between the memo lines, one line at a time;
4 - Loaded the Omniremote PRO on PDA, chose Training, Training Buttons, Trained DV-47Ai Button zero against the button zero on PDA.
5 - After finished training, went to Menu with TV Category shown on PDA's screen, chose Advanced, Database, chose Database, chose Omniremote, chose Import Category.
After that, if you read a msg saying you have imported 19 IR codes, go to your DV-47Ai player and press zero on PDA whithin a distance no less than 1 meter from the player's IR receiver. If you see it powering off, the task is done!! My player rebooted at the first try. When I turned it on again next time it was already a Regionfree player.
The memo hack I used is the following:
Thank you very much Peter

M Lo
