Region 4 DV-466 is set to Multiregion Zone 0 by default. No probs with Zone 1, etc, discs. DVD±RW & difficult DVDs perform very well. Poorly mastered (flags, etc) DVDs are also handled well. Region Code/Firmware: Region: 0 Rom Version: 1.176SglBsc Anyone have a newer firmware revision? Thanks to the posters in the other Pioneer threads for the unlock hex codes & how-to's.

My DV-466 is NOT region free, locked to region 4. Anyone know how to unlock it by using the remote control only (no PDA's, etc.)?

Bad luck on your R4 unit being locked. What firmware revision does your player have? Pioneer DVD players cannot be unlocked by the unit's RC. You need the unlock code sent either by a service RC or via the IR hack posted for the other Pioneer players.

I have recorded and analysed the codes sent by my Pioneer remote control for DV-466 using WinLirc with simple receiver and the codes that come out look very similar to the code for the Pioneer hack at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Pioneer+DV-454 so I expect this would work. I have not tried applying this yet - still scared of RCE. Steen, or anyone with a player that is already region 0, how does it handle RCE discs? I am afraid I will set my player to region zero, only to find it will not play discs it can play now, being set to region 4.

I just purchased the DV-466 today. It comes multi-region out of the box (from JB HiFi in Brisbane). Initially, it was playing my Region 1 DVD's in black and white (despite having an NTSC compatible TV). Adjusting the TV system from Auto to PAL (page 68 of the handbook) solved the problem. It plays both Region 1 and 4 fine. I'm suspecting you may have a problem with RCE disks. I was told by the JB staff that Pioneer is about to launch its new model range, meaning that the DV-466 may be outdated soon.

Just confirming that the hack mentioned by Bob does work on the DV-466 as well. |
